They gave Pakistan the know-how and means to build nuclear weapons even though the Chinese publicly denied it. That was the biggest defence contribution one nation can give to another. And no one in the world could do anything about it. Therefore giving Pakistan the J-20, J-31 or their equivalent is straight forward and elementary. It's not a question of if but when!

Pakistan will go the TFX way, as the chinese can not directly have any part in the making of TFX, so they will want pakistan to have a part in it, so the chinese can have indirectly taken part in it(clandestine TOT). J20 may be better for china but j20(heavy tier) is like f15 and j31(medium tier) is like f16, pakistan will always go for a medium tier aircraft as in the 80's Pakistan choose the f16's, as it fulfils all the strategic goals. The potential of j20 coming to pakistan is there but it will be half a squadran, posted in gawader through a strategic agreement.

Or you can build a block IV of the JFT with slightly bigger wing space and under mount bays and use J-20's stealth tech in it? I see this happening in reality. This makes logical sense and the PAF can then build stealthy planes in number and yet, lower cost, single engine ones, with local overhauling, fixing, R&D capability. The Chinese will probably allow Pakistan to build the air-frames as always but might keep some sensitive tech local to them. Either way, it would work magic for Pakistan.

very interesting development if Chinese Friends export J-20 with J-31 to Pakistan and Chinese Friends can get more investment money to further develop J-20 blocks with 6 generation capabilities and also these fighters to PAF they will boost Pakistan Air Force Capabilities to safeguard CPEC and related assets and keep enemies of Pak China Friendship at the bay.

Pakistan is falling further and further behind against India for Air Superiority let alone Air Parity. It's only chance is to buy at least 36 J-20.

each J-20 will command & control 4 to 6 JF-17 blk 3, the J-20 will fly ahead and use it's stealth/sensors to find targets and relay this information to the JF-17, the JF-17 will launch their SD-10 and the J-20 will take control of these missiles via a two way data link.

What ever upgrades are carried out on old aircraft design would still not make it as advance as a new aircraft. Sir Viagra also has limitations even if you mix it with other drugs it would not make one young again.

Structure strength would increase the life ...yes but it would not transform it to a next gen fighter bomber.

One can not compare Toyota Supra (modified) with a modified Mustang GT , both these cars are of a different league.
