What's new

Pakistan Navy P-3C Orion Thread

Your coastline will require at least Three-Four AWACS if you guys really want to do it right and you'll need backups too. You'll need jets for escorting the AWACS and these shouldn't be counted in the Naval Air Arm that I referred to above. This should be a separate squadron.
Or you could develop a UAV type of a platform and mount Chinese radars on it. Let the whole thing be cheaper with decent AEW options.
For financing, the US's already been giving you guys billions since the inception of Pakistan. The US's also helped run your governments for decades and has spent trillions over decades for the welfare of the Pakistani people like education, trade, medical, water, roads, etc, etc. But when it comes to it, you guys hate the US for absolutely no reason. So not sure how the US would like to finance these expensive toys for you guys. I really think the average Pakistanis should reduce negativity towards the US and work with each other positively to GROW and ADVANCE Pakistan, its people, economy, infrastructure, health, education, etc. It's easy to sit in a backward running economy or system and blame the US for everything while honestly, the US provided more for Pakistan and its people than ANY of the political party or government of Pakistan for its people. Sad to see the negative sentiment. Yes, there will be ups and downs but look at the previous statements. Your own politicians and governments screwed your country over, many times over but you guys still elect them idiots. But a country who's always tried to support you, you guys hate due to a few incidents but keep giving these corrupt idiots more and more chances to screw their people. Beyond me how you guys think.
But back to the question, if you guys bring real democracy this time, vote for the right person and make sure that people elected take your country towards modernization and economic growth and religious tolerance and group tolerance, I can assure you that the US would love to help you by investing. A stronger, modern civil and extremism free Pakistan is in the US's best interest (just like Turkey and Malaysis). Two good governments in Pakistan and you can buy all the fancy toys I listed above yourself due to the economic growth and prosperity you'll see in just 10 years. So soften your heart for the US and get rid of corrupt, extremism from your society. You'll see a financially set Pakistan within the next 10-15 years and the US and its people will standby you and help you grow.

Will 11 CN-235 MPAs and 11 CN-295 MPAs would be enough for PN operations, if we suggest to have them instead of P-3Cs in our fleet???

Buying a new platform at this point of time wont be feasible!
Moreover, the P-3C Orion are a tested and proven system. With lots of user around the globe, the maintenance and upgradations options are also vast so better stick to it for the time. With our financial situation in mind, it will be very important to get priorities right. A decent surface and sub-surface fleet need to be maintained and the P-3C can very well support this. Later on, there is always option for inducting new platform if economy permits!

So why not PN had decided in the past like 2003 or so to get:
11 ATR-42 500
11 ATR-72 500
along with 6-8 Agosta-90Bs...

Because we didn't required that at that and also because we couldn't afford to!
Pakistan is not some oil rich country that can go on buying such expensive stuff and then ask friends to man these for them.. neither are we a country with aim of becoming a global military power. Maintaining a minimum credible deterrence have been our aim and all this was not required for it.
There were plan to add a high tech system in U214 that would have given Pakistan an edge but that too went down due to multiple reasons, well discussed in the relevant thread.

Let's talk about the upgrade whats the upgrade package
new avionics suite must be one of them.

It would appear that one of the modernised P-3Cs (designated PUP for Pakistan Upgrade Program) has recently arrived back in Pakistan from the US. See pic below:

Anybody know how how many P-3s are scheduled to undergo this upgrade and under what timescale?

Let's talk about the upgrade whats the upgrade package
new avionics suite must be one of them.

December 2011
Lockheed Martin in Owego, NY receives an $8.4 million firm-fixed-price indefinite-delivery/ indefinite-quantity contract modification in support of the Pakistan [P-3] Upgrade Program (PUP). This modification includes Phase Depot Maintenance Phase I for aircraft 505; removal and replacement of engines for aircraft 505 and 511; and support costs associated with a schedule extension to the PUP Plus effort.

Work will be performed in Greenville, SC (65%), and Owego, NY (35%), and is expected to be complete in May 2013. The US Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division in Lakehurst, NJ manages the contract, as Pakistan’s agent (N00019-06-D-0012).

So, you felt the need to copy-paste an old post of mine (the post # 14 on this very thread)...
Interesting indeed!
There are still 38 pages left behind that you need to read.

So how many P-3Cs in total for PN and also I think used ATR-72s have reached Pakistan. What will be there use?

These P3Cs are fully upgraded up to the latest standard and carry a very lethal punch and will add a new dimension to Pakistan Naval Aviation. Until the arrival of P8, India has no counter to it. Funding was provided from US FMS program

Agreed!

Initially 3 bought in 90s plus 7 + 1 for spares bought in 2000s so total 10, 1 crashed (90s one) and two lost at Mehran so 7 Operational (some may be in storage and reactivated when needed) with 13-18 hours patrol time, Long Range patrol.
