Pakistan Navy interested in type 056

The PN is interested in the 056 as

1) it is a proven design,

2) has been in service in massive numbers in the PLAN.

3) can be be purchased quickly and absorbed into service

4) can be bought on good terms financially.

5) good bang for bucks.

6) does the donkey work, allowing larger vessels to perform "offensive ops".

.
The PN right now is showing the other services up by both its innovative purchase, its indigenous building and learning, and out of the box solutions.

The type 056 if purchased will be after an exhaustive study, and would be based on the peace time and also war fighting requirements for the next few decades.

The PAF and the PA could learn a few things from the PN, in my humble opinion.

Here's an example of what a Bulgarian shipbuilder (MTG Dophin) was doing over the past couple of years. They designed a corvette (for a domestic requirement) and built an OPV variant for an export customer.

My point is: If Bulgaria can undertake work like this, then I can't see why the PN is unable to encourage domestic actors to do the same. 8 ships is serious business.

It would be better to set-up a tender for 8 ships that requires the winning bidder to either:

(1) Offer a design, but build all ships in Pakistan via an offset involving the winner to invest in setting-up and using Gwadar Shipyards. So, at the end of this process, we get a new private sector shipbuilder.

or

(2) Get NRDI to partner with STM, MTG Dolphin, etc, to design a corvette in-house and then open the bid to the private sector to build these ships. NRDI would supply the documentation, training, etc, while the private sector invests in the capacity (at Gwadar) to build the ships.

FYI: This is the MTG Dolphin K-90 Corvette (via Bulgaria)

On the subject of Iran, we have nothing to say this new ship will actually be a thing. Iran is no stranger to propaganda projects. See the Qaher 313.

On the topic of the SA'AR, they are not designed by Israel. The SA'AR-6 is based off of the Braunschweig Class, modified to accommodate Israeli sensors and weapons.

Touching on Turkey, why is it shocking? Turkey has TONS of experience working on military projects and modifying equipment to meet local needs.
hmmm...... Iranian Navy, Israeli Navy, Turkish Navy. they are very different? ?

It appears like a good decision to acquire a ship with regional defensive posture
8 Corvettes would be a valuable addition to control Pakistan's economic interest in our economic zone at Sea

Seems like a capable design

I dug around a bit, turns out that the ship Bulgaria's MTG Dolphin built (for Equatorial Guinea) was actually designed by Ukraine's State Research and Design Center (http://srdsc.com/projects/corvete/). Given how it was Ukraine that came to us wanting to collaborate on shipbuilding...

Pakistan first should double the order of Type 54 A Frigates and Milgem Frigates. Than go for this and eventually for Type 52 DL Destroyers also

This would be a good idea if we had the money to back it up. However, in the future, the PN should just turn to the J-Class as their mainstay surface combatant. Perhaps then whether they want to look at procuring an off the shelf destroyer, they can but then they could also look at a customised TF-2000 based design, purchasing the IP potentially to provide more flexibility.
