Pakistan Navy Inducts Marinized ATR MPAs and LUNA NG UAVs

There are 4× ATR-72s in service with PN's 29 (ASW/EW) squadron Sea Eagles. Serials #79 and #78 were converted to MPA by RAS with the former officially inducted into service in Dec 2018.

So, looks like the US$ 294 million deal also includes serials #76 and #77.

The one on the right does not look modified and just transport while on the left is mpa??

One reason atr are good candidate for mpa because made up of carbon fiber vs traditional aluminum and less prone corrosion due to humid and wet environment operating over water

Different platforms for Different roles.

P3C also carries weapons and sensors to hunt submarines meanwhile ATR are inly for patrolling with only two hps to carry missiles. P3C's endurance is also bigger.

The one on the right is missing all the gadgets, thats what I noticed.
If I am not wrong 12-18 month back PN issued a tender for acquisition of one ATR aircraft for general duty I think the Aircraft at the right side is the confirmation of induction for that purpose
