Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Mohammad Zakaullah has said that Pakistan Navy is being strengthened with the full support of the government.

Addressing concluding session of two day International Maritime Conference in Gwadar, he said that Gwadar Port will benefit the entire region as the volume of trade will increase.

He reaffirmed Pakistan Navy's resolve to provide safe and secure maritime environment for CPEC, trade and Gwadar Port.

It would be of course best deal if we had enough on the surface and in the air to support these subs.Considering our current fleet a deal like that may be considered bad.

He means you have shield, but you need sword to create havoc in enemy lines & disperse them , Ok 4 submarine makes good sense with few heavy strike fighters. You are just taking shields and expecting to win war?. We are not utilizing our resources in best capacity. We are lacking in planning and decisions, we should have asked for 4 submarines with option of 4 in future , rather than All in one go. We should have looked for few dedicated heavy strike fighters.

Oh my. Some one tell the Naval cheaf about these gems. Why is he wasting resources on subs? He should be buying some squadrons of Asssss Yuuuu thirtyfive with that money. Seriously, why you guys aren't Naval Chiefs?

The thing is that with submarines, no matter how many surface ships or fighters the enemy has, there is always a doubt, a threat that the enemy can't fully tackle. That is because you can't see them and they are not that easy detect, even with modern platforms like p8s. Also, these new AIP equipped subs are known to be one of the most silent ones in the market.

So in my view the subs are the swords however, we do require some new frigates for defence. A dedicated squadron of su 30s would be ideal.

Well i think they have the knowhow of that area more then any one else here . their budget is too low , so there is no chance of any bad move + these 8 submarines will take 5+ years to gt inducted . god knows how many surface ships we would have til then .

8 Chinese submarine from now till 2028 for 5 Billion, project is way to long and costly - Would had been better to go for 4 S-20's and maybe 4 S-80's or Type 214's

Or would have been better to jointly produce/develop a submarine then buy them off the shelf

first 4 will arrive 2023, 2024 time frame bro and this is S-20

Pakistan Navy - In April 2015, Pakistan approved purchase of 8 S20 class from China for $5 billion for Pakistan Navy. The deal was finalised on 23 July 2015.[12][13] In October of the same year, it was revealed that 4 of the submarines will be built in Pakistan, with work beginning in both nations simultaneously. Pakistan's Minister for Defense Production confirmed that the agreement included transfer-of-technology to construct the vessels.[14] On 6 July 2015 Rana Tanveer Hussain, minister of defence production announced two projects for the construction of four submarines in China and four in Pakistan will begin simultaneously. Hussain added that a training centre will also be created at KSEW. In late 2016 it was officially confirmed that China will see about 4 submarines delivered by 2023 and the remainder delivered by 2028.
