Pakistan National Assembly rejects Bill to allow non-Muslims to become country’s President, PM

Our liberal brigade must pack up and fly to west --- This is Islamic Republic of Pakistan and not some secular state.

It is Constitutional discrimination on the basis of religion amongst humans. Humanity

While Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan claims that his government does not discriminate against the minority community, a recent decision by the country’s National Assembly has exposed its hypocrisy.

The National Assembly has rejected a Bill that sought to allow a non-Muslim to become the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

Naveed Aamir Jeeva, a lawmaker and a Christian belonging to the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) introduced the bill in the National Assembly, The News International reported.

However, the bill was blocked by the National Assembly, with majority voice on Tuesday.

The lawmaker proposed an amendment to Article 41 and Article 91 of the Constitution to allow non-Muslims to become Prime Minister and President of Pakistan.

In Pakistan, only a Muslim can be elevated to the posts of President and Prime Minister.

According to Article 91 of the Pakistani Constitution, the National Assembly is empowered to elect one of its Muslim members to be the Prime Minister. Similarly, Article 41 of the country’s Constitution says that a person shall not be qualified for election as President unless he is a Muslim.

Pakistan PM has times and again said that the minorities in his country are enjoying complete freedom, security, and their rights are being protected.

And they lecture us on secularism and liberalism and tolerance and what not. What a bunch of hypocrites.

We write or not. Will India make a Muslim her prime minister? Or USA will make a Muslims her president?
And let this thing for a moment. Will you let your sister to marry a Muslim?
Why world wants justice only when it comes to Muslim countries? If Israel makes her president a Muslim, than we will be also consider that.

Perfect timing to raise such issues. PPP idiot did that knowing full well the outcome. It was specifically done with the anti national parties and media to embarrass IK. I smell Bilawal khusra and others behind this.
Why would this topic be of such great concern to a ppp minority mna at this critical time? Shouldn't he be worried more about the welfare of his constituents first?

Dude you have no idea about the venom these PPP stooges are spitting out these days. They surpass even Indians.

Those same people who talk about democracy all the time at this forum don't respect the opinion of the majority no one in Pakistan wants a non Muslim PM president or army chief
And the politicians who don't believe in the ideology of Pakistan(PTM and aalo gosht types) shouldn't be allowed to contest elections

These small anti Muslim groups that espouse such idea are the most vocal and well funded and connected to the powerful external sources . They will leave no stones unturned to harm the image of this country.

This is just a Hindutva talking point.
There is no problem here.

In the US you must be born in the US to become president.

Just post that link every time a street sh!tter talks about this.
Muslim or Hindu born in US can become president. Unlike Pakistan US doesn’t discriminate based on religion. It goes the other way too, a Christian not born in US cannot become president.

There no hypocrisy, Pakistan is a Muslim country and our leadership, and our military, and our people are overwhelmingly Muslim. Not having a non-Muslim president does not mean we treat non-Muslims with cruelty. We must, as Muslims, respect all faiths and treat our fellow human with kindness and compassion.

A country is Muslim, it has a representative who stands for them. America wouldn't elect a Russian for a President, would they? Israel wouldn't elect an Arab as it's president? Then why the heck would Pakistan do that?

What sort nonsensical garbage do people write these days. Liberal, educated jahils, who dance to the secular tunes. No difference between them and indiots!!!

Full name of Pakistan is Islamic republic of Pakistan and Pakistan never claimed to be a secular country
Then why should Pakistan allow a non Muslim to become PM or President

So basically we want muslims to get equal rights in all non muslim majority countries but we do not want to give equal rights to non muslims in muslim majority state. Hypocrisy level 999

Muslim majority in Pakistan don't want a non Muslim head of state and no one should have any problem with that
We don't care what is happening in other countries
