even if we have, it makes sense. several thousand troops were moved to indian border after mumbai attacks. now that things have relatively calmed down so y not move the troops back to where they came from. gud for both the countries.

I've been thinking along these lines for quite some time that we can easily do a 50/50 split i.e 250,000 deployed on the eastern fron and 250,000 deployed on the western front and the nukes be pointed at the larger ( more visible targets ) on the eastern front.

We can mange this quite easily

Only that the Pentagon decided to tell this to the U.S. Congress, that's all.

Should make U.S. lawmakers more favorably disposed towards Pakistan - meaning an easier time getting military and economic aid approved.

Well that is strange that congress is coming to know about it from Pentagon and that also at this time, becoz we all in Pakistan and the media had been reporting this figure for more then one year by now.

Yes at 26/11 there was some movement, but it wasn't huge as was reported in media, and once the 26/11 Indian war mongering died down, the troop level was again up. Even at the time of 26/11 and the tense situation, there were still 100,000+ troops stationed there.

We can easily move an additional 100,000 troops ( our total strength being 500,000 active and 500,000 reserve , MASHA ALLAH )

I think we should move an additional 100,000 in the area to crush whatever is left of these vermin once and for all and put to rest the constant itches they have in their back sides

On the indian front we should keep about 50 to 60 nuclear warheads armed and ready to fire at major indian cities and installtions and any cowardly act such as opening a new front our eastern border should be retaliated by total destruction.

The Armed Froces now seem even more determined than ever to end this nusance once and for all.

Dude if India wanted to open a "new western front" , your Pakistan would be relegated to its pre independence status. It is for mature politicians and army commanders to use as weapons of diplomatical tactics. Something that you fall out of the ambit of.

This 100,000 figure is not for NW and it is not a current move, rather it is the total figure, which is deployed from Swat to NW & SW. It contains the troops involved in Swat, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, NW & SW.

The total may be around 150K or something like that, which include the PA, Frontier Corps & Frontier Constabulary.

lol. . India getting support from USA and Israel-yes. But not against pakistan. . Currently USA's sale of military hardware to Pakistan avoiding Indian pressure is great example. .And also Obama is not a india lover like Bush. .same he does to Israel. . Islamabad: Pakistan on Thursday denied US reports that it has shifted 100,000 troops from its eastern border with India to its western frontier with Afghanistan, terming the reports 'baseless, ridiculous and misleading'.

About 147,000 security forces personnel were deployed on its western borders to combat the menace of terrorism and no additional forces had been shifted there, Online news agency quoted military spokesman Maj. Gen. Athar Abbas as saying.

'Our armed forces are conducting operation against the terrorists on the western borders. We are facing threat of conventional war from the eastern borders, therefore, the troops deployed on the eastern borders alongside India have not been thinned out and nor will this strength be scaled down,' he said.

'The number of troops required to be deployed on the eastern border is still there and any question to relocate them to the western border stands ruled out,' Abbas said, adding that there was 'no substance' in the reports published in the US media.

In a report to the US Congress, the US defence department said that 'more than 100,000 PAKMIL (Pakistan military) troops were moved from the eastern border with India. This unprecedented deployment and thinning of the lines against India indicates that Islamabad has acknowledged its domestic insurgent threat'.

The 'Report on Progress toward Security and Stability in Afghanistan' said over 130,000 Pakistani troops were participating in the ongoing campaign against the Taliban in Pakistan's tribal region.
