Pakistan Mastery over Foreign Engines for Planes

For those non-technical folks who think jet engines are some alien technology requiring black magic and dragon fire to produce

Ironically
it is not the compressor, but the turbine stage which is critical.

Trying reading up, and see what new cans of worms you discover.

Fine. Let's get a little technical. What is the metal composition and ratios of metal slugs, from which the blades are made from, please? And what is the composition and ratios of the ceramic coating that is applied to the blades, please?

I myself and Kamra Complex would appreciate it if you could tell us. Thanks. :-)

I have done my fair share of reading up during my mechanical engineering degree with focus on aerospace design... :-)

I don't know how you determined that the turbine stage is more critical than a compressor stage. The shape of the blades are very similar, difference being the turbine blades have to experience much higher temperatures since they are downstream of the combustion chamber. Ever wonder why a jet engine has to be externally started up to get the compressor up to speed before the turbine can kick in?

There won't be efficient combustion in the first place if your compressor isn't doing its required job. Just like a car engine is categorised on its horsepower, a jet engine is categorised based on its compression ratio.

But please enlighten me with your knowledge that you gained by reading a couple of threads on PDF. :partay:

Only an uninformed child thinks that material is the only impediment in turbine/compressor blade design. :-)

i think you have absolutly no idea about what you are talking. its my field (automotive manufacturing) if you give me required parameters like amout of air drag , speed required, temp range, etc etc i can presicely tell you what metal composition you shud use and what type.of ceramic coating upto what thickness will be required. and after that i can provide exact equipment to do all the endurance testing you need to check your required parameters.
so all of you guys complaining about metalergy i am sure you have no idea where steel industry in pakistan is standing.

Did I say that was the only problem? You haven't even begun to answer a simple question I asked, but no, you instead resort to your own childish behavior, belittling your fellow members with patronizing and condescending remarks.

Show some maturity.

Fine, that's good to hear but my question was to @Syed1.

It will be appreciated to remain respectful to each other and continue your discussion. In-case of disagreement, agree to leave conversation peacefully.

Haha funny you tag the mods, you are the one who started quoting me with your condescending posts. Don't dish it if you cannot take it son.
And your great logic below. :rolleyes1:

Only in Pakistan jet engines are considered some sort of alien technology.... heck the Germans managed to produce one back in the 1940s. It is not new technology. Obviously producing an engine with higher thrust than what is available at the moment is a challenge, but producing an average engine should not have been a problem for 200 million people.

.
producing high performance reliable jet engines for combat aircraft has been domain of select group of nations - USA, Russia, Germany, UK and France

look no further than Russia's MiG-25 engines. it had a great performance but the engines had a short lifespan

.
It's not my fault that you have an akhroot for a brain and can't understand what I typed out in the post.
I understood well. You just think making a jet engine should be a doddle for an economy that is mostly agricultural based.

Get off your high horse and face reality of the real situation in Pakistan.

Running away now when I ripped you apart. :partay:

Next time take on someone of your own level and don't try to punch above your weight class.

This is what happens when every paindu tom, dick or harry thinks they are an expert on aeronautics and technology just because they post on a defense forum.
Boy you have some issues. Tandi ka bro!:lol::lol:

Jet engine represents the pinnacle of modern day engineering

Unfortunately in this area we didn’t progress

Although we have the people we didn’t get the governmental support needed to back the industry up

Has Pakistan even tried in the past?

We've only just started to build the JF-17 Thunder about nine years ago. So why would Pakistan want to build expensive jet engines in the past when it wasn't even building a fighter aircraft to be used for it.

.
They overhaul it ... which means they open every part of it and put it together .. Pakistan does not have precision lathe and milling machines to cut the metal. Secondly, Pakistan cannot produce high strength metals due to basic metallurgical industry ..
So true... We dont have even basic elements to build an engine..

.
Pakistan's Kamra Institute , rebuilds Mirage Engines and Services F-100 Engines for it's F16 Fleet. Since induction of JF17 Thunders, we also acquired knowledge to work on RD-33 Engines

I could not find image of F-7PG Engine

Introduction of the WS-13E should enhance our local Manufacturing capabilities further
But at present we haev ample option to use RD-93 or It's enhanced variant
