Pakistan likely to buy China’s Z-10 Thunderbolt attack helicopters

Previously Turkey had offered to gift three T-129 helicopters to Pakistan. Now this time China has given offer (in my opinion).
Well we should get 3 each test them on TTP and than decide which of these we want in large numbers

China shall give 30 Z10 to PA for free to deal with Taliban, we are wealthy enough to make it happen.

Stop joking and try to confirm if China is giving 3 helis or not and also post details of weapons and missiles which Z-10 can carry

if i remember correctly, last year when president visited China, he said that China will provide helicopters to Pakistan. So maybe this is what he was talking about.

Brother the scenario has changed now....Now PA is fully involve in War against Terror and it is great need now so good opportunity for China as well...

Both must have some similarities.. The only difference I find is that Mi-35 is also used for transportation. But I think this news is not relevant.

Mi-35 is Multirole Helicopter and not a pure attack helicopter as WZ-10 is.....it weight size, armament maneuverability matters

The last I check, there is no news on our media regarding this 3 helo deal to Pakistan. Best not to stretch long necks to look for it.

China seldom release news on foreign arms sales. And these deal is more likely a free loan of 3 WZ-10 helo to pakistan. Even more unlikely, it will be mention on Chinese media.

to be honest this is only the beginning Pakistan and china have constantly looked each others back like brothers china being the bigger one of course .Its only the beginning first 3 then china will sell 20 and then joint production of the z 10. Pakistan might just get destroyers in the near future from china and Pak-China coalition isn't far.

Well we should have around 72 active attack helicopters like Z-10 or T-129 or MI-28 and around 50 MI-35 divided between special forces of all three Special Forces
don't u think u r taking about too large numbers?
I guess 16 Mi35 Hinds and 36 other gunship (T129,Mi28,Viper,Z10) are sufficient...............and our affordability is far too low which is big problem

First question, how exactly are these helicopters "GIFT"?
Second, is it in addition to the Russian Mi-30 ones Pakistan was planning to purchase.or was Pakistan only "interested" in them as the article suggests?

Anyway I hope you get them soon and put them to good use.

The Z-10 is the new Chinese attack helicopter. It's development began in the mid-1990s. Prototype of the Z-10 made it's maiden flight in 2003. It seems that initial production gunships were delivered to the Chinese army in 2009-2010. It is the first dedicated modern Chinese attack helicopter. It has been designed with extensive technical assistance from Eurocopter and Augusta. Other sources claim that development of the Z-10 has been assisted by Russian Kamov helicopter design bureau.

Primary mission of the Z-10 is anti-armor and battlefield interdiction. It also has some limited air-to-air combat capabilities.

The Z-10 helicopter has a standard gunship configuration with a narrow fuselage and stepped tandem cockpits. Gunner is seated at the front and the pilot is at the rear. The fuselage has sloped sides to reduce radar cross section. All vital areas are believed to be protected by armor plates.

Weapons of the Z-10 may consist of 30-mm cannon, HJ-9 anti-tank guided missiles (comparable to the TOW-2A), newly developed HJ-10 anti-tank missiles (comparable to the AGM-114 Hellfire) and TY-90 air-to-air missiles. It can also carry unoperated rocket pods.

The prototype of the Z-10 is powered by two Canadian Pratt & Whitney PT6C-67C turboshaft engines, delivering 1 531 hp each. However indigenous engines might be used on production helicopters. It might use the same engine of the WZ-9 helicopter, but it is less powerful than Canadian design.

This helicopter may be fitted with a fly-by-wire control, helmet-mounted sight for head-up display, television and forward-looking infrared sensors, radar and laser warning receivers, infrared jammer and decoy dispensers.

It is believed that that the Z10 attack helicopter is in the same class as the AH-2 Rooivalk and the A-129 Mangusta, however it is not as capable as the AH-64 Apache.
