Pakistan Is the Enemy - More Xenophobia and Hate from Hitchens

How will it effect gas prices? Is Pakistan planning on bombing Saudi Arabia?

Hi

Since 2008, the gas companies have become extreme oppurtunists----they found out that they could raise the price of gas just on pure speculatin and the american politicians won't do nothing----.

Just like after the tsunami, the gas prices shot with for no reason at all----. In case of war---the speculators want to make money---they create artificial panic in the market---the insurance carriers raise the insurance for oil tankers.

The speculators have tasted blood---in 2008 when the gas prices shot up---hundreds of thousands of american small businesses went down and have not come back----the u s and west's economy is in shambles----Obama had the oppurtunity but in his arrogance lost it all----.

by the end of last year---the gas prices came down---ceconomy starting getting better---march was a good month and then the tsunami hit and the gas prices shot up----the u s economy hit a brick wall---june was a dead month----. There are terrible times ahead of the u s---not in the states where economy is better---but in those states where it is bad---it truly is horrible----.

War or strikes won't make things any better----. The u s needs to find a way to get out of here with some dignity left.

The only way to have a sort of peace in afg would be to have a alliance and majority populace ruling and pakistan backing it----.

Hi Sir,

Just to address your economic disaster part of it. Actually the war will work the other way. The last great depression was overcome due to a single reason = WW1. Public spending incresase during war time is nothing like anywhere else. Actually there is a school of thought that believes that Afghan war is just not big enough currently to bring that stimulus as happened in the last depression.

Secondly, US and Europe will be the least losers due to the next depression. They have been in depression last years. In fact the prime casuality of the next depression will be more China and less India due to the different reliance on foreign consumption of their goods and services.

So technically, America should want this war!!

Hi,

My goodman----yesterday---the news in the united states is terrible------a massive drought in the state of texas supposedly to last for 10 years---just do a web search and see for yourself empty lake beds---and a second recession for the country being un-avoidable----country is totally broke---police force cut down---some city with no fire fighter ---.

It was a terrible choice of words by Adm Mullen---he did not need to utter them on the last days of his job---. The u s bet on the wrong horse---the northern alliance---. They ripped the american exchequer apart---with thousands of dead americans and tens of thousand wounded and crippled---the americans need to ask their trusted colleagues---the northernb alliance----what kind of sh-it they got caught in to.

In a week Pakistan went from Ally to Enemy and back to Ally -- What is the message other "allies" in Muslim majority countries should take? And what lesson should other non-NATO allies take from this?

Pakistan: U.S. Assures Ally, ‘No Boots on the Ground’
By REUTERS

The United States told Pakistan on Friday that it would not send ground troops to attack militants in North Waziristan. A senior American official said that Pakistan was assured “there will be no boots on the ground.” Also on Friday, President Obama backed off a statement by the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Adm. Mike Mullen, that the militant Haqqani network was a “veritable arm” of the Pakistani spy service. “The intelligence is not as clear as we might like in terms of what exactly that relationship is,” Mr. Obama said in a radio interview. He added that whether Pakistan’s support for the group was active or passive, “they’ve got to take care of this problem.”

Just as how the Haqanis went from the equivalents of the American forefathers to wild animals, Pakistan went from ally to enemy hen back to ally. Following that trend its pretty much given how the wild animals of today would fare in the US eyes tomorrow.

Tremendous lessons have been learned in this past week. Mullens statement has been a blessing in disguise, if you ask me. An eye opener for Pak military and political establishment. Here was a man regarded as the best friend Pak had in the US establishment. A man who understood Pakistani issues and PoV, man very close to Gen. Kiyani, and look how he changed a week from his retirements to suit the establishments agenda.

Here's a lesson for generations. We're living through and experiencing a pivotal point of history of our motherland. It would be a pity if these lessons are ignored.
