Pakistan in Guinness Book of World Records

Largest Appendix Removed
An appendix removed from a 55-year-old Pakistani man on June 11, 2003, at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, Islamabad, Pakistan, measured 23.5 cm (9.2 in) in length. The operation was carried out by Dr. Riaz Ahmed Khokhar.

The appendix is a long, thin, worm-like pouch sticking out of the join between the large and small intestines. Doctors are still not sure of its purpose – or even if it has a purpose – and although it contains immune-system cells, if it's surgically removed, health doesn't suffer.

Dr. Khokar is a very good friend of my father(also a doctor).

I once asked my father why he gets so much reward after all it was that poor patient who did that painful job

Guinness Book of World Records is a pathetic freak show.

Largest number of M&Ms flicked by the tongue? Largest number of beer cans stacked?

What a worthless joke of a book!

You are right but it at least imprints the name of Pakistan at international forum.

Oscar is also useless award but the whole nation was cherishing for Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy after she won the Oscar last week. Its serving no purpose but it does give you recognition at international level
