Not susure if China tested Pakistan I nukes as China had non alliance doctrine during cold war era and won't give favors which could put her in trouble.
Although the founder of modern China Mao xhe tung himself ordered his relevant department to supply Pakistan with 80 kilos of HEY,which jump started our nuclear program.
Pakistan does have staged nuclear devices with fission-fusion-fission design and Also have high neutron flux devices also called neutron bombs which are made for Nasr missile.

Yeah we all know that nawaz shariff sleeps using nuclear bumb as his pillow, pakistan military plays cricket using nuclear bomb as stumps, zardari uses it as throne to sit on...........etc. Every other day there is a stmt about having nukes and threatening to use them. Why not stick a sticker on forehead saying "HAVE NUKES AND WILL USE THEM",It will at least cut down the noise pollution.

The US, with the rest of NATO departed from this strategy and instead concentrated on a conventional edge via quality.

The nuke game is dangerous. Any attack on Indian forces will result in a full scale assault on Pakistani cities, with Pakistan then having to strike back and then goodbye South Asia. Pakistan should concentrate on conventional strength, bit by bit.

India has had Low Yield tactical nukes from well before Pak's development. We've even tested them in Pokhran.

Pokhran tests were mostly successful except for lower yield dected in only one test- the Thermonuclear Stage 2 test.

Flexibility within the nuclear arsenal is a good idea. It gives you more options.

Yes, the theory is that "If you use nukes, the other side will 100% escalate to a full nuclear war".

That's the theory. But when push comes to shove, will they kill themselves, their children, their entire nation rather than backing down? Or will they do what they have chosen to do every previous time, and back down again?

We'll only find it if it happens, but when push comes to shove, people will prefer not to commit suicide. They would rather live with injury and shame, but at least they get to live.
