‘Pakistan has built low-yield nuclear weapons to counter Indian aggression’

low yield nukes are plutonium based. there are referred as battlefield nukes as they are used to decimate brigades and halt a further incursion of a thrusting adversary.you would know by now low yield nukes for pakistan are strapped on to the nasr and the abdali.

I'm aware of our programs, I wanted an update as to what the West has in its arsenal, and Transhumanist is quite an expert at it.

Flexibility within the nuclear arsenal is a good idea. It gives you more options.

Yes, the theory is that "If you use nukes, the other side will 100% escalate to a full nuclear war".

That's the theory. But when push comes to shove, will they kill themselves, their children, their entire nation rather than backing down? Or will they do what they have chosen to do every previous time, and back down again?

We'll only find it if it happens, but when push comes to shove, people will prefer not to commit suicide. They would rather live with injury and shame, but at least they get to live.

The US, with the rest of NATO departed from this strategy and instead concentrated on a conventional edge via quality.

The nuke game is dangerous. Any attack on Indian forces will result in a full scale assault on Pakistani cities, with Pakistan then having to strike back and then goodbye South Asia. Pakistan should concentrate on conventional strength, bit by bit.

But the thing is even in a *purely* conventional war any big explosion can be mistaken for a mini nuke such as this which can prompt other side to engage in full scale nuclear.

For public consumption and international reputation, "no first use policy" is a nice one. However, behind closed doors, within the decision maker's/ general's office the policy is more like "use it before you lose it".

But as far as the war fever that India has developed lately, I foresee a war as the only solution. With more than enough deaths and destruction on both sides things people will realize it wasn't a very prudent decision. And whats left of both of us will drop this fever to go on help each other "Bratherly".

You see, whenever there is a major natural disaster be it in India or Pakistan, other side always runs to provide aid as we have seen happen before. Its really a love story but with daily little quarrels with are necessary to live along side.

well having it is one thing and using this option is another
this will create an impact on enemies (soldiers) mind they will think 000's of time before attacking

now that we have this option we can move to increasing Conventional strength

NATO’s Tactical Nuclear Weapons Must Go—But Not Today | The National Interest
“A principal function of forward deployment [of tactical nuclear weapons] has been, and remains, to be a visible symbol to friend and potential foe of the U.S. commitment to defend NATO with all of the military power it possesses.”

Yeah we all know that nawaz shariff sleeps using nuclear bumb as his pillow, pakistan military plays cricket using nuclear bomb as stumps, zardari uses it as throne to sit on...........etc. Every other day there is a stmt about having nukes and threatening to use them. Why not stick a sticker on forehead saying "HAVE NUKES AND WILL USE THEM",It will at least cut down the noise pollution.

I would not be surprised one day if we hear pakistanis say they eat nuclear burgers for lunch:p:.

For burgers we can order from Beef from India

Battle fields these days have sophisticated equipment and a conventional explosion will not have the EMS pulse of a small thermo-nuclear weapon which can render a lot of electronics useless...it is quite impossible to mistake conventional explosion as a nuclear one..

Nasr or low yield weapon meant to use in own territory against aggressive force will cause lot of problem moral and international reasons in case of Indian response in that scenario Indian will be held responsible to start nuclear war because Pakistan uses it in defense not in offense.

You think India and Pakistan will have the "sophisticated" weapons lined up every mile of the border? In a battle field you also dont have time to wait and analyze explosion and its consequences with 100s or 1000s dead and a general waiting to hear a response from an officer if electronics were fried or not. For example when relations b/w soviets and US were hot there had been MANY instances of a launch that was mistaken for nuke and many times there wasnt even a launch but a computer error and before it was cleared out the other side had already geared up to respond with a nuke strike.

I do believe that the tech US and Soviets used in those days still surpass what both sides have today.

Nice theory, but have they been used else where to validate it? nope. Why would you want to destroy and pollute your own land with radiation. Even underground testing causes a lot of effect to nearby inhabited place, guess what an over ground explosion will do ?
Who will authorize the strike ? field commander ? PM ? will they have enough time to decide ? what will be the criteria ?
What if india deliberately detonates a bomb and claim it is pakistani one ?
If india paradrops troops on/near lahore and brings in armoured corps , you will detonate one on/near lahore rt ? Sounds like hara kiri.

Tactical nukes are good for posturing but never useful certainly not in densely populated areas like india & pakistan.
Even nato will think twice about using it in europe on their own land. US & Russian is different case altogether, separated by 1000's of miles they dont care about what happens else where.

Given that military now a days are preparing for NBC warfare only thing tactical nuke might do is end up killing civilians while military survives to fight another day.
