Pakistan falls in love to its economic determent ( IMO)

Equal how? Certainly not in trade.....that seems to be heavily in China's favor...that is what this discussion is about

Yes but the PRC gives us technology both civilian and military, it protects our interests at global institutions, it also has thousands of it's engineers and other professionals working on projects funded with Chinese money. Also when the security situation and also the energy problem eases you will find our exports even with our brothers in China will rise.

A good relationship with the PRC has been one constant with all governments in Pakistan of what ever persuasion - also their is total political consensus, from the most liberal to conservative political parties, even national institutions such as the Army also favor brotherly relationship.

Also our Chinese friends can correct me if my spelling is wrong, but my Chinese friend has given me the word "GUANXI" to discribe our two countries relationship.

the definition of equality and friendship is different for them. ever heard their explanations of ummah and muslim brotherhood?

There is a definite relationship of brotherhood between Muslims everywhere, that is why when Egypt got her freedom, you would see Muslims everywhere around the world erupt in joy.

This is what you call friendship - A young Chinese girl has gone to the trouble of learning the Pakistani National Anthem.

Indians, come on. You claim to be not interested in Pakistan's affairs if they don't relate to India. But what you are doing here and in a lot of other threads shows otherwise.

Hypocrisy as usual. When someone opened the thread on muslims in gujarat, all the indians were whining on why Pakistanis were commenting on it (especially the thread starter). But look at them now

Yes, China and Pakistan strategic relationship works for both nations today. Like the USA Pakistan relationship worked for both in the 80s.

I think its a serious question, and one i'm sure many pakistanis must be thinking of is, are pakistan's policymakers doing something to avoid the same pitfalls that they fell into with the US relationship, i.e. losing control over the relationship. Afterall, pakistan is a very small nation relative to USA or China.

Well we are neighbors for one, you cannot change geography.

Yeah and that's why Iraq attacked Iran with chemical weapons :coffee:

Between the people - not necessarily between the govts, but as with Egypt - you will find it will be more closer to the Islamic World.

I see, so this is why all other muslim nations stood mute when Iraq was invaded and no one is saying a word when pakistan's territorial integrity is violated everyday and where is the brotherhood when saudis request US to bomb Iran. funny that pakistan's closest allies are christian and atheist countries. irony much?

let's get back on topic, I hope next election will bring a better govt for pakistani people and assuming WOT wraps up so you guys can finally improve your economy. I hope mushi or sharif comes back to power so India and Pakistan can resolve long standing issues once and for all.
Most of us sick and tired and want peaceful relations with you guys

SO I started this thread about economics. can we get back to it please?
To pakistanis who have posted here ( besides one guy on page one)

Let's start by saying a few things :

1. We know Pakistan has a great relationship with china and as it should
2. That china, like any other country, has a right to look out for its interest foremost
3. Please please please look at this introspectively and not point fingers at others- after all you love your country and should be concerned about its economic policies.
4, If you miss this opportunity to discuss it sanely or make excuses for China, then you only do a disservice to your economy.
5. Finally PAK _CHINA Bhai Bhai yes! but my point is not " Ayre Bhai! "

Pakistanis claim to be proud people, If I was one of you- its kinda embrassing reading the capitulation to china on this thread. This is for the sake of your economy!

When you had your devasting floods. US gave 300 million. China gave 10 million. when your govt asked China for help with aid, china refused . When it asked for soft loans it refused -but then turned around and openely gave/giving loans in other countries. This not bhai bhai...sir- this taking advantage and abusing the relationship.

dude, they are taking you to the bank. do you not understand they are not hiring your people. Majority share is chinese and they won't allow pakistani industries to come close to their projects. Plus they are charging you an interest AND they are charging royalty fees on top of that for building it & for decades! what kind of math is that? you pay , and pay them surplus and you won't get to get your major industries involved ?

they are dumping goods on your economy, they are wiping off Pakistani home grown industries! - ask you economist and industrialist, brother.

You are allowed limited number of items to trade , while china has practically free range in your market and your defict is beyond ridiculous. get off the love affair and get into serious business, for the love of your country. You fell into love with the US once and you know where that blind love took you.

Bhai Rafi , chinese girl sings your national anthem. how many pakistanis mouth and stomach will it feed? yar. get off the loveboat and join the business lounge!

Actually the thread title will be best fitted for India instead, India happened to be the biggest "sucker' by percentage wise regarding trade surplus on China's customers list and its been getting bigger and bigger every yr, better worry more about your own country than playing your childish provoking games, simply shameless.

India’s trade deficit with China, which was just $1 billion in 2001-02, rose to $16 billion in 2007-08 and is further expected to go up to $24-25 billion this year. The rising trade deficit remains a sore point in India-China bilateral trade relations.

China's government has increased its aid from $1.5 million to $10 million, including tents, sludge cleaning and water purifying equipment, generators, blankets, food, bottled water, and medicines to the neighboring South Asian state, Xinhua reported.

yes india has a trade defict and I ranted about that when the chinese came to india( here). issue was discussed and they were told when they came to india , we close the gap, open up more items from India or we start putting more items on restricted lists. India has already started to ban certain chinese items. China went back with no free trade agreement !
