Pakistan Denies Operation in N. Waziristan

.this type of public behavior generally don't come under the discussion, unless he is reported.

You are well meaning person and I hope that you will not see this as personal - however , I would encourage you to be open -- if the media were not there, this incident would be a non-incident, a non-event -- try and see it from the point of view of the ordinary, the civilians - here's a university lecturer and apparently can be held in custody just on the say so of a major and not on a base but at the airport - in other words, the law is what the uniforms say it is -- it's all unsustainable, and it's a damn shame that those who have been in uniform are having such a problem seeing that the very future of the institution is at stake ---- seems Pakistanis must get used to the Pakistan armed forces running operations against the populace --- it's sort of like what it's like on this forum, the rabidly anti-Pakistani are afforded space and stage, in the interests of "freedom of expression" while those who in conscience were gadflys have their threads title changed to something un-complementary, and those who did this are rewarded and most members will never know if there is to be accountability or not - yaaron da yaar

It is a good thing if true that the Pakistani military will move militarily into and through N. Waziristan. I would hope that as a integral part of those future ops the PA will build and maintain permanent forward military bases, from which community and economic development efforts can begin under the security and protection of PA.

Eagle

The state and her institutions share much of what the so called terrorists are about -- it's isn't just certain locations - the infection, the malignancy is of a general character - having said that, beginning with bloodshed while leaving the infrastructure which creates and perpetuates extremism in society, is a cure worse than the disease.

shame shame shame, on both army and government

shame and more shame, alas, american dollars win

laakh lanat on both and finally say, kaum ki kon sunta hai, jo kerna hai karo

End to US drone hits if military launches North Waziristan operation – The Express Tribune

Pakistan has been threatened by the US to conduct operations in North Waziristan, & they didn't do it. The aid still kept coming despite their refusals. I personally believe aid could not have convinced them to conduct operations there, which is why you might see a significant drop in drone attacks in N Waz, maybe even completely halted.

the war will bring more disasters, more IDPs, more innocent killed and more suicide bombs

the corruption has led us down every time

The fact is the terrrorists and terrorism are the long term problem for and inside Pakistan which must be delt with militarily. Terrorists keep regrouping inside SWAT, FATA, Waziristan, etc. largely, in my professional opinion, due to lack of follow through via new permament military bases to protect and oversee hiring of locals to build roads, housing, schools, hospitals, dams, related hydro projects, solar power generators and power generating windmill farms.
Swat and FATA have been cleared and military as of right now is still in those areas..........
Pakistan has a huge military and wastes way too many military personnel and assets on the frontier with India where these are not needed. India is not the enemy, the enemy is "within.

We have around 200,000 army excluding FC and FC-1 in these areas............. Abt india not being an enemy thts just a joke........ With 80% of indian army standing on our eastern border and their chief of staff giving our irresponsible statements like "limited nuclear war","cold war","2 front war","surgical strikes" and abbotabad style raid and God knows what...............Can we afford to believe tht?

The so called ally cant be even trusted........... It has left us in the cold many times............And in simple words its just a bully and GoP is a spineless piece of crap losers running the country and not giving a damn abt the public.

I sincerely hope that this (launch of operation in North Waziristan) is a false news. I hope and pray that (if not GOP) then at least PA has the wisdom to see that this will bring more bomb attacks, more mayhem and more bloodshed to Pakistan. It will also affect the hold of PA on Sirajjuddin Haqqani group and they will turn on PA and Pakistan (just like Hekmatyar, Mullah Omer, Northern Alliance and Alqaeda). if this happens it will be complete disaster.

Pakistani army could have saved thousands of Pakistani lives from daily bomb attacks had they launched this operation an year ago.

And how can you claim this. What if daily bomb attacks increase in retaliation of this operation? Who will bear the cost? It will be common pakistani again. It will be common pakistani tribal people who would be made homeless because of operation.
So common pakistani will suffer no matter what this gov or millitary does or not.
I think US might have agreed to stop drones if millitary conducts operation in NWA but how much we can trust US thats a big question mark.

If your army does its job properly...does not allow terrorist to escape from their safe havens in Waziristan..such would not happen..

What alternative do you have..would you much rather carve out a piece of your country and give it to them on permanent bases..where they can have their own laws, can suppress local population, do their own policing and from where they launch suicide attacks on you on an almost daily basis?

Why are you scared of what these terrorist will do in retaliation(as if they need a reason to retaliate)... you are pretty much at the bottom of the heap..can't do much worse that this..but only better!!

People are also forgetting that the PA has been harping on about a N Waz operation since a few years, & then not going through with it in the end. Let's see what happens.

Repercussions of Abbotabad .. Pretty obvious that there are some details/proof available with the USA about Osama that are not being shared in public, but are solid enough to force Pakistan to risk an even further escalation in the terrorist violence in Pakistan. Since now both TTP and AT will be attacking Pakistan if the above happens. Dont know if that will make a tangible difference though since in the world view, both these entities are the 2 sides of the same coin

Complete BS and speculation - Indians aren't too far behind in coming up with lavish conspiracy theories and spinning yarns vilifying Pakistan, as can also be seen in the concocted 'Headley Confessions'.

The real problem is not in NWA, the real problem is how the Pakistani state is ambiguous about terrorism and terrorists, and this attitude carries over in the general population, in fact the entire political and social framework is built around a radical extremist narrative -- it is this that must be targeted by the Pakistani state - laws to deal with religious political activism, laws to define the limit thereof, laws that outline clearly what is the good and what is not

I don't currently see the Pakistani people having the will to do what your saying. When they didn't have the will to stand up agianst the radicals in amending the Blasphemy law. You had a couple people brave enough to stand agianst the radicals and paid for it with thier lives. The rest allowed themselves to be intimidated and retreated. How much more so do you think the radicals would come out agianst changes that sharply curtail thier influence?

One of the biggest reforms that needs to take place is Pakistans educational system. The biggest tool the radicals use for control over people is thier lack of education or thier extremist Madrassa education.

Assalam u Alaikum.

Positive approach. Why wasn't this done earlier? Cause most of our Front line troops are from Khyber Pakhtoon Khua, and in one way or the other, they would be fighting their own family. Horrible dilemma for them. I wonder how did they convience them. Plus, its summer starting now, and imagine the soldiers, in armour and uniform with huge bags and other stuff, how 'broasting' would it be for them? For God's sake, even they are human and moreover, it could end up in financial loss (LOW efficency). This could have been done around 3 months latter or earlier.

Regards.
