Asian hockey needs come back

Why & How does Pakistan produce so much talent in Hockey and Cricket?

For a small country, the talent and skill is phenomenal. The only blip in this story is that even Srilanka (which has a fraction of even Pakistan's population) has tremendous cricket talent....Nations like Australia, Newzealand and England are developed and thus the system produces the skills....India and BD are laggards in this regard.

How and why?

Congrats to Pakistan, but it'd be useless if Pakistan losses to New Zealand in the Finals.

I wish the best of luck to Pakistan Hockey Team.

Population has nothing to do with sporting talent. NZ has a population of less than 4.5 million (thats less than city of ahmedabad) and yet if u watch them play rugby or cricket it seems unbelievable. You might as well say its an example of chaos theory.

first it is god given talent (not in the religious sense). the other thing is that sports esp cricket and hockey is a 'way-out' from poverty as not many opportunities are available for the 'common man'. all the good jobs are taken by un-deserving people belonging to the feudals and politicians.
