2024, and completed on 31 January 2025. President Asif Ali Zardari ll'be the chief guest, and the public can attend for free. The concert will by performance of singers Ali Zafar, Shafqat Amanat Ali, and Sahir Ali Bagga. Ali Zafar expressed his excitement on social media about performing in Karachi. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has invited all Test cricketers from Karachi to attend, and enclosures in the stadium will be named after Shahid Afridi and Younis Khan.
The stadium's upgrades include a completely rebuilt pavilion building, new seating in every enclosure, and renovated hospitality boxes. Modern LED lights and upgraded score screens have been installed to meet international standards. Fences have been removed to provide an unobstructed view of the action for fans. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi praised the efforts of laborers, FWO, NESPAK, contractors, and the PCB team in completing the renovations. The stadium is set to host the first match of the ICC Champions Trophy on February 19, featuring Pakistan against New Zealand. Naqvi assured that the best facilities would be provided to the Champions Trophy teams. Additionally, a new color-coded road and pedestrian bridge have been constructed.
