What's new

Pakistan could take additional Jordanian F-16s

You are misssing the most important part...

Politics are dirty. Everywhere. There are no friends but allies and those can change... If you grew up in a very positive and caring family then you might not believe it. But even at family level you have these issues.
in this case we still have not learnt any significant lesson.

After reading this thread I couldn't help but remember my fascination with the F16 through a video game I ended up watching a lot at a friends x386 PC. If I am not mistaken it was called Strike Commander.

32+14+13 (recent addition from Jardon) all blk-15 origin USA. = 59
from original 46 (32+14) some of them have received MLU but exact numbers is not known publicly, it is expected that13 new addition will also received MUL upgradation, which will bring entire fleet of PAF F-16 equivalent to blk 52 , other than this PAF operate 18 blk 52+ origin USA

Great!
Are they all operational?

plz read a recent post of @Munir (TT)

Out of the 14 90's vintage OCUs, received as EDA, one was lost in accident.

Hence the count should be 32 + (14 - 1) + 13 + 18 = 76.
Also I have read from PakDef.org, cannot confirm the veracity though, that 35 of the Block-15s have been MLUed. The rest should be done by the end of 2014. 4 were MLUed in the US, 31 in Turkey by TAI (if at all 31 is correct) and 10 remain to be MLUed as per the current deal.

According to ASN (Aviation Safety Network) database there are 8 accidents involving PAF F-16, and all have been damaged beyond repair:

17-JUL-2009 - ASN Aircraft accident 17-JUL-2009 General Dynamics F-16A 81-0913

22-OCT-1994 - ASN Aircraft accident 22-OCT-1994 General Dynamics F-16A 82701

28-OCT-1991 - ASN Aircraft accident 28-OCT-1991 General Dynamics F-16A 85725

16-JUN-1991 - ASN Aircraft accident 16-JUN-1991 General Dynamics F-16A 85723

04-SEP-1989 - ASN Aircraft accident 04-SEP-1989 General Dynamics F-16A 84712

18-DEC-1986 - ASN Aircraft accident 18-DEC-1986 General Dynamics F-16B 85609

Please, I don’t mean any offense by saying that, I just want to make sure of the real figures.

Does the total number of accidents has been discounted from the total of 76 F-16 which you have provided?

Thank you!

PAF bought 40 F-16s in 1980s. Of these, 8 crashed or were beyond recovering. So that left 32 f-16s from the original order.
Then PAF received 14 more from USA EDA stock, and one of these crashed. So 32+13 is 45.
PAF bought 18 new BLK52s, so that brings the number to 45+18=63.
Then 13 more come from Jordan, so 63+13=76 F-16s.

Has Thailand opted for gripen / f16 combo?

The Royal Norwegian Air Force (Luftforsvaret) was one of the four initial European Participating Air Forces and ordered a total of 74 F-16A/B aircraft. Of these, 56 were updated under the MLU program. Norwegian F-16s will be replaced in 2015, with the most likely candidates being the F-35 Lightning II and the Eurofighter Typhoon.

The Royal Danish Air Force bought a total of 77 F-16A/B aircraft in 2 major batches and 2 attrition replacement orders. Of these, 48 aircraft and 14 spares, all upgraded to MLU standard, will remain operational until 2020-2025 when they will be replaced by the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.

The Belgian Air Force was one of the first four international customers for the F-16 Fighting Falcon. Belgium ordered a total of 160 F-16s in two batches. Heavy attrition and restructuring of the armed forces reduced the operational inventory to 72 aircraft. The remaining aircraft have been stored or sold (14 to Jordan for example).
Although the entire inventory consists of F-16A and F-16B models, all 72 remaining operational aircraft have been upgraded to MLU standard.
The fleet will be further reduced to 60 aircraft by 2015. No decision has been taken on possible replacements, if any.

This was always the plan, ever since PAF pressed on with the F-16's and the J-10 news fell silent, it became obvious PAF will start collecting up F-16's like it did with Mirages.

Don't anticipate any details though, just like the Jordanian F-16 deal, PAF's dealings will show up without warning and abruptly.

This is the best approach, will be hard for Bhartis to meddle if they do not know where the talks are happening.

It's difficult to determine the exact number or types in the PAF inventory, as i said elsewhere, amongst the batch purchased from Jordan, we were told of a single dual seater, where as there were two amongst first five to arrive but here before dispatching to Pakistan, one can see at least three dual seaters in the line up at the Jordanian airbase.

Disinformation :-)

May be deliberate to let others keep guessing, remember in the original 40 there were 12 dual seaters, these ''B'' or more exclusively ''D''models are not just combat capable as the single seaters but when deployed in say ''Wild Weasel'' type role or night time operations, they become an assets unmatched by anything else in the region.
