Pakistan could shatter Indian army in 62 but US intervened: Bruce Riedel

Just 12 Thousand soldiers were on the China Border
as compared to 80000 yes 80 Thousand Chinese

it's fascinating how the indian leadership of time ignored its own reports, then also ignored direct warnings from china itself, it didn't prepare for war yet continued to push it in that direction with its forward policy which included incursions into non-disputed chinese territory.

But they are good in finding excuses for the humiliating defeat, like 10000 vs 80000; WWII era guns, lack of ammunition, no enough to eat and no warm cloth......list goes on.

That was the biggest strategic blunder by Pakistan, a blunder of epic proportions, a golden opportunity missed.

In his upcoming book titled “JFK’s Forgotten Crisis: Tibet, the CIA, and the Sino-Indian War”, Bruce Riedel, one of America’s leading experts on South Asia and counter-terrorism, has said that Pakistan had a golden opportunity to shatter the backbone of Indian army in 1962 during the Sino-Indian war but US President John F Kennedy intervened to hold Pakistan back.

In his program ‘Dunya Kamran Khan Kay Saath’ on Friday, Kamran Khan highlighted the points from the book concerning Pakistan. Bruce Riedel in his book has explained how Pakistan had a golden opportunity to get Kashmir freed in 1962 but John F Kennedy told Ayub Khan not to intervene in the war. Ayub Khan, Riedel goes on, asked the US government to play its role in resolving Kashmir issue as a bargain to abstaining from intervening in Sino-Indian war. Riedel says that though the US agreed to what Ayub had demanded, they never played any role in solving the longstanding riddle.

The book says that Chinese army surged into Indian territory in 1962. At this time, Kennedy ordered emergency airlift of supplies to the Indian army. Meanwhile, Kennedy government engaged Pakistan army into diplomatic negotiations and thus holding them back from intervening into the war. Ayub Khan was unable to take a decision due to the American pressure and as a result, Pakistan failed to exploit the biggest opportunity that came its way to get Kashmir freed.

It is pertinent to mention here that Qudrat Ullah Shahab has also mentioned in his famous book ‘Shahab Nama’ how a Chinese diplomat came to inform him about Chinese attack on India and gave him a covert message that it was also the right time for Pakistan to attack India but when Shahab told him of his encounter with the Chinese diplomat, Ayub Khan snubbed Shahab, saying the senior bureaucrat had no idea about military movement.

lol actually we consider India an enemy and a mortal threat to us until Kashmir is resolved. Kashmir issue was there before terrorism before wars in 1947 so its the issue no 1. Its the litmus test for India if India resolves it Pak military will deal with other threats ie westren border and in future both Pak/India can be terror free.
On the other hand India with all its so called might and some Indians thinking that India is superpower or soon to be are totally obsessed with Pakistan instead of China lol. Your news/media/bollywood is dominated and obsessed by the word Pakistan. Don't believe me well pick one news channel of India and one news channel of Pakistan spend a whole day watching them side by side and you will see word Pakistan atleast 208 times more than the word India on an Pakistani news Channel or go on youtube type the word Pakistan and click recent and you would see how many obsessed Indian have videos on any given day. lol Talk about obsession.Oh this thread is an example and you my friend on this very forum is another example. We Pakistanis are sexy and we just know it. Do it if you have guts and then comeback here and apologize for your statement.
I came back
Which statement?

Pakistan can still shatter India today. The only thing saving the bhartis is the fact that we pity them.

Doesn't really get more laughable and desperate than this. Butthurt from 1971 persists in large amounts it seems.

Exactly if the rag tag Muktis can make PA to surrender ,imagine what could have IA done.
Mukhti could not have done it without a vast pool of access to PA uniforms and tactics..it was a big false flag insurgency...
