Since this thread pertains to our North East, let me tell this forum that about 800 years ago a Turk by the name of Bakhtiyar Khilji set out to conquer Tibet and my state Assam.
After his army was defeated by the Tibetans, he set his eyes across the Brahmaputra where my ancestors(of a sister tribe) decimated the remaining ones. The ferocity of the attack was so severe that the remaining army of Khilji had to sustain themselves on the meat of their rotting horses.
The lives of those captured by our soldiers were spared and they are present here to this day as a subset of the Assamese muslims.
Needless to say that Khilji could never recover from the humiliation and died shortly afterwards..
