Pakistan Considering HQ-9B to Enhance Air Defence Capability

so the lauching tube```lol, you really want to make fun out of yourself```
early HQ-9 has TVM? man now you rise your ignorance to a new level````
how can an active homing missile has "similar" radar arrangement to a TVM? do you even have ths slightest idea of what guiding system is at all? or what does "radar arrangement" mean?``men```````speechless

it is always amuse to watch those people speek with sheer ignorance, yet they think they know the stuff
And you know nothing but always does troll that you're pretending you're the cheif designer of various versions of HQ-9 ;):enjoy:

.
Four units meaning defense coverage for four cities so nothing earth shattering about this acquisition. Would need at least 12 units to get an effective coverage along indo pak border.

.
Pak needs a long range air defence more than ever to fill up long loop hole in our defence

Can CAFRAD be used for Air base protection?

Ads%C4%B1z-5.png

ÇAFRAD has three different radar elements called AYR, ÇFR and UMR. UMR AESA is the long range search and early warning radar system inside ÇAFRAD complex. The land variant of UMR is known as EIRS AESA which is actually heavier variant of UMR and can detect the targets from longer ranges(600+km). EIRS will be the main search radar system of Siper long altitude national SAM program.

BTW, It is expected to see the first mock-up of ultra long range early warning radar system called YIR in IDEF19.

Aster-15/30 are also available since sometime.

The Aster 30 Block 2 is a good choice but the Aster 15 and Aster 30 Block 1 aren't. However, chances of the French releasing even the Block 1 Aster 30 are slim. You can simply forget about getting the Block 2.

An euro weapon system is best avoided as these countries will always be a pain in the *** to deal with. Maybe Italy and Spain aren't so bad, but the rest are just a bunch of hypocritical blackmailers. Pakistan is going to have to put up with a lot of BS from them if it decides to approach them for any significant defence purchase like a LRSAM.

Another thing that makes the Aster 30 less preferable is that the Turks have got a joint program with Eurosam, the result of which is likely to be an enhanced or at least a fully Turkish version of Aster 30. If Pakistan wants this system, waiting for the Turkish version to finish development makes sense. I think it is called GUMS; @cabatli_53 could tell us more. Once developed, it will be sanctions proof and even more importantly there is a lot less chance of it getting compromised by the developer and Pakistan will always have an upgrade path available after the initial procurement without risk of getting cut off as would be the case for purchases form an european country.

what do you guys think of Bavar 373 than?

I think it is a very promising system: a real game changer for Iran when it finishes development. There was so much potential for civil/mil industrial cooperation between the two countries: AD systems being a prime example where Iran could really help Pakistan. Unfortunately, the Iran of today is so blindly sectarian it has actually become hostile to Pakistan.

are the HQ9A and HQ9B even available for export? I was under the impression that only the 125km range FD2000 is. The FD-2000 is a much inferior system compared to the S-350E Vityaz

Integrating air defence especially high altitude with Air Force is a very difficult and expensive job

Those resources should be put into Blcok 3 and J31

We are good at air to air

Always have been

yes i agree but in one year when UN arm embargo is left Iran can export arms freely. and if its not Bavar 373 Sayyad 2 or 3 will be a good choice.

everyone is jumping for high altitude SAM but the low level threat is something far more dangerous. Something like Denel Cheetah C-RAM should be considered. We have so many AA guns so just need a missile to team up with the guns.

Aster family and CAM are available from UK and Italy (Aster) so no issue of France and Aster-30 Block 1NT is very capable system.

As i Stated, cheetah and Mongoose 3 should be deployed together along LOC and near high value targets lije bases and airports. Together they form a S. African play off of the Iron Dome C-RAM system. Then add in LOMADs SPADA-2000 and HQ-9B and you have a reasonably thorough Air/Missile defense system.
