Pakistan Considering HQ-9B to Enhance Air Defence Capability

One regiment with three batteries and three batteries can cover north south and central strategic areas

So one covering isb all the way covering kamra and part of kashmir

Similarly one covering Karachi complex one sargodga or Lahore etc

Mostly in anti ballistic missile defense role

S-400 regiment is about 1-1.5 billion this should be far less cheaper but also in play can me MBDA aster

Range is not everything reliability and maintainability is also factor why spade2k was introduced vs Chinese system
Is integration of an AD system with other assets also a factor???

The SD-10 can be converted into a local , SAM system for Pakistan just need a radar and targeting module

However presently I feel the Turkish Underdeveloped system would be great addition maybe we should get few ordered for trial

There's already a SAM version of the SD-10 -- i.e., DK-10. Besides that, Pakistan can opt into the South African Umkhonto or the Turkish Hisar. But whatever the choice, the focus should be localization. I'd skip the short-range stuff and try to get equity in the Denel Marlin. It's both a BVRAAM and SAM (same core technology); the BVRAAM will have a range of 100+ km, while the SAM will reach 60 km.

Would there be a land version of PL15? Now that could be interesting.

I think long range is not critical but anti ballistic missile defense capability is critical but any system can be over whelmed unless like USA MDA solution is created to create multiple redundancies which require $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Anyway hq-9 like s-300/400 has multi layers short medium and long range interceptors , not sure [emoji848] ??

S300/400/500 has multiple type of interceptors and radars for various types of threats
9M96E1, 9M96E2 Etc.

Chinese has fm-16, fm-90, Ly-80 and hq-9 part of different layers as interceptors and radars

I don't think they need to carbon copy the AAM. Rather, they'll probably re-use the propulsion and seeker technology, but modify the missile design so that it does its job as SAM properly.

A more advanced derivative of the platform, the HQ-9C, is reportedly currently under development - and is expected to have capabilities comparable to the Russian S-300V4 and S-400 - both of which can intercept targets at hypersonic speeds of up to Mach 15.
We should wait for this system

If Block I and II can be made compatible with PL 15 then can we convert our SD10As into DK10s?
