ATTOCK: Pakistan has started manufacturing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), commonly known as drone, in collaboration with Selex Galileo of Italy which claims to lead the unmanned aerial systems market.

A ceremony marking the launch of the project was held at the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC), Kamra, on Thursday. It was presided over by Air Marshal Farhat Hussain Khan, the chairman of the PAC board.

Falco, the UAV to be manufactured under the project, is designed by the Italian firm. The aircraft will address surveillance and reconnaissance needs of Pakistan Air Force.

Speaking on the occasion, Air Marshal Hussain said the UAV co-production facility was a major step towards the long-term goal of self-reliance in military aviation industry.

He praised PAC engineers and technicians who had worked unrelentingly for two years to establish the facility.

He said that establishing the UAV manufacturing unit was a challenging task requiring total dedication.

He said that the Falco would greatly enhance PAF’s operational capability.

Air Marshal Hussain lauded the Italian company’s cooperation which helped Pakistan to become part of an exclusive club of countries having the capability to manufacture a modern tactical drone.

The roll-out of the first Falco UAV at the PAC is scheduled in the near future.

The photo you have shown in NOT Falco UAV. Rather it is a modified HERON UAV which the Brazilians have recently tested with the Israeli's.

thanks for the info bro looks very promising indead, although it would it take time to mature but surely thats the way ahead. and i guess it will be easy for us to get as compared to predators. by the way the pic provided in an earlier post by the respected member looks somewhat different.

well mate you right to some extent but we dont need food and shelter, what we need is equality of oppertunities and condusive enviornment, its not the job of government to feed its people but to provide them facilities and level playing field to stand on their own and compete with world.

U can ask Gov Y they spend 3 to 4 million Rs per month on their MNA or MPA expenses. Which is really useless as people dont have food and shelter.

my brother u seems to be very innocent. it is the duty of government to feed their people specially those who r very poor . i also want that our country becomes no.1
but the priority od food ,medicine,education should be higher than weopnes.

My dear food is available only its expensive.......and people can buy if they work. Its not Gov responsibility to give food they can only create oppertunities.
And as I said defence budget is seprate then budget for civilians u can ask Gov to cut down the expenses of MNA n MPA's to give food and shelters.

One more thing Pak is not that poor that people are living without shelters and food.
