Pakistan becomes largest exporter of young doctors to UK

I know doctors who make lakhs every month through private practice in multiple private hospitals + consultation at home. There is a famous neuro surgeon near my home who sees around 40 patients every day at his home (20 in morning , 20 in evening). The going rate is Rs 200 per consultation (There is no fixed charge and he doesn't ask it either)..thats Rs 8000 per day just sitting at his home.

True, I dont deny the fact that Once you are established you get money by all means but the problem is for "Young" and "Newcomer". They invest so much of effort and money for getting degree and if they didn't get a hospital or established private practice (which again require investment) then they face big time problem while they can move to other countries work like nurse/assistant for some time, Do the course and then get handsome money.

Rs.200 is too less that for a neuro-surgeon to charge. Are you sure he is neuro-surgeon not a neurologist.

Yes .neuro surgeon in general charge a lot for pvt consulting.

Yes, he is ..after consultation he goes to a private multispeciality hospital which he has shares in. He is a former professor in Govt Service and highly respected. Frequently comes in our local channel on 'Doctor Live' programs.

Migration needs to stop ...whether its india or pakistan ..brighter brain needs to think about their nation first rather than moving into an alien land who don`t give a **** about people from under develop or developing countries before slaughtering them in masses. for them we are third world citizens...but for us this is our only world .

Dude, in India we have managed to control the brain drain but we are paying the cost for it….medication cost in India has gone up like anything…for simply checkups specialists charge in thousand rupees…if you are hospitalized, then 3 days stay in hospital costs you more than 3 days 2 nights holiday package in Thailand!

Best is UK NHS!

Well we didn't stop brain drain but they starting seeing it as a business which is typical Indian mentality. My wife's most of the friends ( except 5% who got seats by exam) has paid over 20 lakhs to get admission in MDS. Once they are out they have to again invest 10 lakhs for Dental chair and other and then there is no certainty for business. Hence many moved to US/Canada to do MBAs or practice.

Its always hard for a young and newcomer to establish themselves in their respective field, but if you talent there is no stopping you especially in the medical field.

The condition of health department in Pakistan is getting worse day by day due to low health budget and lack of facilities , doctors in Pakistan have less opportunities and low salaries as compared to other western countries so for their better future they are going their . But its a sad fact that poor Pakistani people are suffering from this but Govt is responsible for all this scenario as its a job of Govt to allocate enough health budget every year and develop a proper service structures for doctors and give and good salaries so that they dont think of leaving Pakistan .

I agree that salaries in Govt sectors sometimes suck but what about private hospitals?

Yes, the best brains invented the best practices to make best out of their profession...they made healthcare as business like any other business verticals....so sad!

thats because you visit private hospitals at your own choice.

there should be a govt policy for the health care of general public.

Its just him in the office. No nurses or any one to help him. Most of the patients who sees him at his residence are those referred to him by other doctors. They come and see him first in his home. He looks through the reports & scans and then if needed refers them to his own hospital for further observation & treatment.

There is another doctor, a MD, who runs his own clinic who charges Rs 70/- per consultation and recently one of my cousins had his appendicitis removed. Consultation charges for the surgeon..Rs 170/- for one week.

I don't understand what the big fuss is about. Pakistanis produce doctors like rabbits breeding. This is coming from a guy that is related to a former district surgeon of Punjab.

How are earth you guys digest this type of Idiocy statement in Pakistan!!!

This episode created really bad vibes in India and since then Indian doctors are hesitant to come to UK. India is number 5 on the list now, from number one, according to GMC figures. There are two more reasons why Indian doctors are not keen on coming to the UK anymore. Indian doctors are enjoying benefits of the economic boom in India, private hospital conglomerates are expanding and public and private sectors are investing in the health sector while this is not the case in Pakistan.

Same with Pakistan once your local economy picks up and enough opportunity arises then the migration will stop, until then the birds with wings will always fly looking for a better opportunity abroad...
