Pakistan asks Korea to invest in defence sector

.
South Korea is a reliable partner,it will be very good for Pakistans Defence industry.

I just went through the headline, and assumed the nation given the past relationship. Seems like Pakistan has swapped the boat again.

It's had good relations with both the north and south, but considering that the north has been acting up recently and making even China nervous, I doubt Pakistan wants to stay on a sinking boat.

Can you blame Pakistan?

Why don't they just ask someone to come Govern Pakistan as well , bohat bari bat ho gi

lol, you know what? That's actually a great idea. honestly speaking, bring the guy who handled Korea's own IMF loan, over to Pakistan and have him govern the country. We'd be much better off.

The main issues here are;

1. The Minister for Defense Production and The Korean Ambassador are essentially DUMB THUMBS when it comes to military projects and there dynamics.

2. POF is already and directly involved with Poong Saan that has set up the 155mm CARGO AMMUNITION plant at a cost of around US$55 million few years back. Unfortunately and thanks to our otherwise dumb planners; Army now does not have the proper guns to fire this high tech ammunition from.

3. POF recently also gave a project to Poong Saan to update the 1950's ammunition machinery in one of its 7.62x51mm manufacturing factory. Poong San did the job at a very low cost expecting that POF will follow suit with giving them a very high order to also do the same with POF machinery in other factories. However this has not yet come through and hence the Koreans are still looking at POF with raised eyebrows for promises unkept.

4. Lastly all project need money and good quality comes only with money spent on critical equipment and infrastructure. POF is like rest of the military set up in Pakistan and essentially penny-wise and pound foolish in these matters.

Conclusively, not much should be put into this chit-chat between two dumb thumbs keeping in view the ground realities of life in Pakistan

Pakistan, South Korea look to collaborate on defence production

Farhan Bokhari, Islamabad - IHS Jane's Defence Weekly

16 October 2013

Pakistan is seeking to upgrade the navy's Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works by expanding co-operation with South Korea, a senior Pakistani government official told IHS Jane's on 17 October.

Although details have yet to be decided, the official said a major focus of the programme will be on "enhanced facilities to produce smaller boats like fast attack craft".

The official's comments followed a 10 October meeting between Song Jong-hawan, the South Korean ambassador to Islamabad, and Rana Tanvir Hussain, Pakistan's minister for defence production.

According to a report subsequently carried by the state-owned Associated Press of Pakistan, South Korean company Poon Song has shown interest in upgrading the Pakistan Ordinance Factory (POF).
