You were a cheery fellow back then; the apparent contradictions of Pakistan have made you cynical !

Sure thing, let me know.

Oi have you ever been on the Super Savari Express tour of Karachi ? :what:

You should try it....it is really...really good !

I took their Lahore version - It was really something; I had no idea that Lahore had so many historical and culturally significant places.

Yes I was, not so much now. I have seen the condition of this country with my own two eyes, back then I was merely listening to others talk and employing defense mechanism to discredit/deny the reality on ground. Bon ami, that is no longer possible.

I haven't ever heard it it, my friend. Some sort of tourism package, I believe? Why the heck would you take their Lahore version, you live in the city Lol

The thing I am trying to differentiate is that a proxy did not ask us for help, an ally did. That is a very huge difference which needs to be understood and appreciated. Syria, I never advocated because it is a troubled zone, and the Syrian Government is not asking for help. Declaring war on a nation is different from declaring war on rebels who are attacking a nation and its neighbours.
Again how does that concern us???
Does the nation or the neighbors in question include the state of Pakistan???
Since when has our blood become so cheap that we are willing to spill it for a foreign country and a foreign people???
Without going in circles those in favour of intervention apart from those crazy dimwits in the LeJ think the benefits outweigh the risks....well i and a majority of Pakistanis disagree!

ok information on it? any links etc... a tour sounds like fun

Ruining our relationship with the GCC is one of the worst things that can happen to our people at the moment... I can not understand how your view is so short sighted. What you are saying is that we do not help an ally deal with a threat on its border by a rebel force even if troops can be spared and the troops are willing to go? is it a sect thing or something because there is no other reason that I can understand your view point

.
is it a sect thing
Seriously??? ...that is disapointing
I despise those Ayatollah fcuks in Iran in equal measure
and no i don't belong to THAT sect

if troops can be spared and the troops are willing to go?
Have you asked the troops are they willing to go???
I have immediate family in the army and no all of them would like to serve Pakistan only and deal with the threats Pakistan faces
What you are saying is that we do not help an ally deal with a threat on its border by a rebel force
The territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia is not under any threat from those tribal rebels
Only and only if the Holy cities are under threat than we should act
.
.
That is all i have to say
Ciao

Our army has historic ties with the Saudi armies and many of the older army men have spent time in Saudi, and the lower level soldiers would like to go, and so would the retired soldiers, they would make as much money as they do in a year in a month, no one should be forced but those willing should be sent. There is nothing wrong with sending troops to help an ally out.

we are allies with Saudi, not only two cities. we have defence relationships with them and need good allies like them, and our expats are very dependant on the same Saudis. You need to take a deeper view

I did not mean that as an offence, it is just your answers are more emotional then logical in my view. I am sorry if it caused offence.

Oh please as if a Bihari's eyes can see that well !

Oh gawd that was border-line racist !

Ahhh well....racism is a part of my culture ! :smokin:

No you haven't seen it with your own two eyes nor have you walked in the circles where these decisions are being made. You've heard people who claim that they've walked there and you've listened to those who say that they know what they're talking about. The only difference now is that you're overwhelmed with it all and all the talk of the reality on the ground has become a self-fulfilling prophecy for you - Agar itneiii loggg keh raheiii hain that we're XYZ then maybe we are XYZ.

The reality of Pakistan, my friend, is that things are far....far....far....far more complicated than the simplistic views that we like to prescribe to them. I won't for a second deny that there are a myriad issues facing Pakistan or that there are a plethora of mistakes that we've made but likewise for me to see a 'malicious' intent behind whatever we do, I'd like a little known thing called 'some evidentiary basis' for it all and not plain 'rhetoric' !

I am not partial to believing that once upon a time some General woke up in Pakistan and said to himself 'you know I'm bored....lets support the Taliban to control Afghanistan....yeah thats the fun thing to do' ! :enjoy:

Nor am I inclined to believing that now a days a General wakes up in the same Pakistan and says to himself 'you know what I think I'm gonna turn the other way whenever a TTP member walks past me in Karachi because if I see nothing....I can't do nothing'

Things are a lot....lot....lot more complicated than that; the problem with these lines of reasoning is that we believe that everything happens as part of a controlled experiment with all exogenous factors being excluded from it. Just to give you an example; do we honestly think that the military has a soft-spot for sectarian outfits that they'd like to use for some strategic purpose when, by all accounts that I've read, the establishment has been accused of being everything from brilliantly manipulative to exquisitely patient in the pursuit of their goals ? If a dunder-head like myself has the brains to understand the repercussions of supporting or tolerating sectarian outfits do we honestly think that someone sitting in a position of power who has thought about these things in deep....deep detail and exposed to information that none of us ever will, has his head full of saw-dust ?

And this doesn't even account for the fact that by most accounts that I've read, the Shias are rather well represented in the officer ranks. If I was a Shia officer and I knew for a fact that this is what my Army or Intelligence agency was up to; would I simply stay mum about the whole affair ? If there were thousands upon thousands like me - What then ? At the very least we would've seen someone resigning in disgust and making his protest known at the very worst we would've seen some violent reaction by these individuals against their superiors.

And yet nothing...not a peep ? Suddenly the military has gone from being idiots who can't even fully understand the human cost of their actions to those who can orchestrate the biggest cover-up in our history ?

Gimme a break yaaaar !

Not everything wrong with Pakistan or every mistake that we've made or are making are because of a malicious plan at the back of it trying to do its thing.

It is a lot....lot.....lot more complicated than that.

I remember hearing the DG ISPR talking about thousands of intelligence led operations being conducted in Pakistan in the past few months; I suggest that if you truly think that the reality of Pakistan reflects our selective application of going after militants 'by design' and not by various 'constraints' you ask @Icarus about this more. I'm sure he'd be willing to assuage your concerns.

I haven't ever heard it it, my friend. Some sort of tourism package, I believe? Why the heck would you take their Lahore version, you live in the city Lol

I really recommend that you should try it ! :)

Because the Lahore version exposed me to areas that I never really knew were there; things like 'this' is where Jodha Bai's mosque is or this is where the first Chapel in Lahore was built by a Portugese lady who was given as a gift to some Mughal Emperor and became his concubine. Or that this is the history of Masjid Wazir Khan.

I suggest you try out the Karachi one because I've heard that the people from Karachi who've lived there their entire lives were pleasantly surprised as the things they got to see and the fun they had ! :)

ok information on it? any links etc... a tour sounds like fun

No link mate; call these guys up Super Karachi Express | Facebook and ask them how you can contact their Lahore tour guys ! :)

If you want to protect the holy land, put yourself in the city limits of those Holy Cities. The kingdom is not holy.

. . .
What a existing life you have my friends. I am really envious . Every time you are engaged in some trilling issues be it within Pakistan or outside it. You can find thrill out of nothing. Thrill is your blood I must say.;)

Our life is boring altogether compared to you. Going office , coming back. Seeing TV, help kids in their study, week end tour-----all mundane activities.:pissed:. I like your way of thinking instead. No botheration on irritating activities like economy, stability , job creation etc

Instead of protected the 'holy land' of the House of Saud, Nawaz should concentrate more on protecting Pakistan's interests within Pakistan.

. .
Which is why i didnt specifically named NS on this. But in all fairness i believe its the army that is reluctant to Nawaz Pro Saudi policy. Otherwise we would have seen Pakistani forces in Yemen by now.
Army has an old pledge to protect KSA's integrity. They did when Rebels stormed the holy masjids and would do it again if Hauties enter the territory of KSA. And Iran should also understand that there is limit of playing games. Iran is doing the same like Army did in Kargil, i.e. getting greedy and going beyond the limits one is capable to hold and we know what happened in the aftermath.
