bhai jee we grounded some 90 SA-315 lama and 45 Alouette III of army in last 10 years . original plan is buy some 100+ light helicopters 50 unarmed and letter now they moved to 50 armed .

.
Well recently I read some where that those helicopters of old we had some "Licence" or productio rights to manufacture / repair the french helicopters , was that a TOT like deal in 60s

I say instead of retiring , overhaul these 90+45 Helicopters and perhaps give them up for Universities for research and development

i think not at all we have no TOT they just load them on IL-78s and send us .

.
I mean the old helicopters we had / have , are ideal for conversion to perhaps City support operations or Anti Norcotics
so overhaul would be ideal for such Helicopters

SA-315 lama , still useful for city wide patrol or available for CITY missions

45 Alouette III, still looks like great platform

Such items could be sent to Universities Engineering Departments so they can have working concepts of interesting enegineering projects

.
Man I think our police needs them more then the army. I feel like our police is useless against terrorists

.
Cities like

Karachi
Lahore
Pindi
Isalamabad
Highway Motorways
Balouchistan
KPK areas

They all need "Such light helicopters" to act against the motor cycle based criminal activites

their life span is over they already reached flying hours . and police or motorways need new light choppers they will sure fly massive sorties sir .police already have few bells i think

.
pray tell me from where did u guys get this figure 90+45!!!

What will Universities develop out of an obsolete helicopter?
Engine tech perhaps? Wishful thinking, I know, but just because something is obsolete, doesn't mean it can't still find some use. Cross bows are obsolete, technologically, but most special forces still use them because they're cheap and don't cause the same level of noise that even suppressed fire arms make.

I would rather hand them over R22 or Cabri G2 to study.
