bhai jee we grounded some 90 SA-315 lama and 45 Alouette III of army in last 10 years . original plan is buy some 100+ light helicopters 50 unarmed and letter now they moved to 50 armed .Great so we are getting 40 , well always good to get brand new stuff it lasts longer and of course has new stuff installed by default from begining
i think not at all we have no TOT they just load them on IL-78s and send us .Well recently I read some where that those helicopters of old we had some "Licence" or productio rights to manufacture / repair the french helicopters , was that a TOT like deal in 60s
I say instead of retiring , overhaul these 90+45 Helicopters and perhaps give them up for Universities for research and development
I mean the old helicopters we had / have , are ideal for conversion to perhaps City support operations or Anti Norcotics
so overhaul would be ideal for such Helicopters
SA-315 lama , still useful for city wide patrol or available for CITY missions
45 Alouette III, still looks like great platform
Such items could be sent to Universities Engineering Departments so they can have working concepts of interesting enegineering projects

Engine tech perhaps? Wishful thinking, I know, but just because something is obsolete, doesn't mean it can't still find some use. Cross bows are obsolete, technologically, but most special forces still use them because they're cheap and don't cause the same level of noise that even suppressed fire arms make. What will Universities develop out of an obsolete helicopter?

Dhruv is not armed
also this is a reliable platform with no crash record, if i'm not mistaken
