I think you made a valuable remark in the end. Every year the prices go up. If you look at how expensive western patrs are now... Not every nation can afford billions worth equipment and the strings attached to that. And besides that no nation is getting it without danda. Sign this or that. That means that cheaper planes or indeg. planes are getting more important. One cannot affor F22 or JSF but neither Rafale or EF2000. And how many nations need something like Fc1 or J10? Lots...

Can P-3C be interlinked to the Y-8?

It has been rumoured that some of the equipment of y-8 Electronic Warfare Aircraft comes from the U.S. Navy EP-3 ELINT aircraft, which made an emergency landing in Hainan Island in April 2001 after colliding with a Chinese fighter. if this is true, It may be Interlinked with P-3C with few modifications.

KJ-2000 AIRBORNE WARNING & CONTROL SYSTEM is looking better option than Y-8/9 for PAF.

PAF is going for ERIEYE for F16s and chinese AWAC for JF-17 and F-10.

Yes your definately right here another fact is that China did get alot of help on its AWACS from isreal if u remember China wanted to purchase the phalcons from isreal sometime in early 2004 but US didnt give isreal a green light to do so another interisting fact is that the KJ-2000 AWACS which crashed in china was on its way to pakistan for trails.

Chinese Defence delegation arrives soon for test, trial of AWACS

ISLAMABAD: A high powered Chinese Defence Delegation is due to arrive here shortly for a test and trail of their Airbrone Warning and Control System (AWAC).

The team is arriving just moths after Pakistan announced it was going ahead with the purchase of the Swedish Early Warning System (ERIEYE).

The Chinese system is said to be cost-effective and state of the art which is designed for both Airborne Early Warning (AEW) and Airborne Command and Control (AC&C) missions.

Pakistan has been in need of such a system for continuous surveillance of border and sea lanes of communication.
The system from China represents the current best choice of AWACS with powerful mission capability and availability in a cost effective package.

Pakistan to get F-10 warplanes, JF 17 thunder aircrafts from China: Gen Ahsan


ISLAMABAD: Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee (JCSC) Gen Ahsan-ul-Haq has said Pakistan will obtain modern F- 10 warplanes and JF 17 thunder aircrafts from China.
Talking to private TV channel on Wednesday, General Ahsan-ul-Haq further said Pakistan has sought help from China in field of Space Technology adding that JF 17 thunder aircrafts are being prepared with the joint collaboration of China and Pakistan Air Force (PAF).
Pakistan and China are taking initiatives to boost and strengthen the defence and security relations between them besides expanding bilateral relations, he added. He said negotiations are underway with China also for obtaining of F-10 warplanes.
China has made an "AWACS" airplane after America and now these days one of these aircrafts is in Pakistan adding we are reviewing manufacturing and functioning of AWACS plane after which negotiations would be held with China for their acquirement. The progress is underway to obtain 22 frigates for Pakistan Navy, he added.
Following visit of President Gen Pervez Musharraf to China, cooperation in Defence and security fields has been expedited. Chairman JCSC Ahsan-ul-Haq expressed his gratitude for China’s assistance in fields of defence and security.

Eireyes is used for F-16s where as KJ-2000 AWACS will be used for F10 and Thunders. It is rumoured that Israel transered some technology of phalcon with lavi to china.

Awacs being bought by Pak is the best: PAF chief

Islamabad, Aug 09: The one billion dollar Airborne Warning and Control Systems (AWACS) being bought by Pakistan was the best of its kind in the world, Chief of Pakistan Air Force Air Chief Marshal Tanvir Mehmood has said.

A Swedish company has agreed to sell its AWACS, which combines Erie Eye Radar Systems with Saab Planes, to Pakistan.

Pakistan also considering to buy AWACS from China and a team from Beijing has recently given demonstration to PAF in Rawalpindi.

The US Congress had approved 44 F-16s with long range standing weapons, Mehmood was quoted as saying by the media here.

He said after his meeting Governor of Punjab province in Lahore yesterday that Pakistan's Defence was invincible and could counter any attack.

Defending the increase in defence budget, Mehmood said Pakistan defence preparedness helped it to prevent a situation like Lebanon where Israel has subjected it to heavy bombing to retaliate Hizbullah militants.
