Pakistan again fails to highlight Indian terrorism

LAHORE - Pakistan has once again failed to turn the Ufa meeting into a welcome opportunity for highlighting Indian terrorism on its soil and bring New Delhi to docks at the international level. The time was ripe to neutralise the Indian tirade on Pakistan and start from a point where India would have needed to explain its position instead of consistently keeping Pakistan under pressure on the Mumbai attacks. This is the view which prevailed at the political, public and intellectual level discussion on the meeting of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his Indian counterpart Narinder Modi on the sidelines of the SCO moot in Russia on Friday.

As against the past, Pakistan at the moment is in a quite different milieu which needed Premier Nawaz Sharif to convey to his Indian Indian counterpart Narendra Modi true story of the havoc Indian spy agency RAW has played in Balochistan, Karachi and other parts of the country in addition to funding a political party to create instability and hit its economic interests. Over the past some time, tangible evidence has been found by the Pakistan intelligence agencies about the involvement of RAW in bomb blasts, target killings, kidnappings, funding and encouraging separatist elements in Balochistan. Pakistan is also hugely annoyed with the statement of Narendra Modi, which he gave during his recent visit to Bangladesh. Modi had admitted Indian involvement in the dismemberment of Pakistan in 1971 and igniting the anti-Pakistan sentiments of Bangalis through Mukti Bahni.

Days earlier, two activists of a political party told the London Metropolitan police that RAW has been funding their party since 1994. The Indian ministers had openly threatened Pakistan to put Indian forces across its border to dismantle terror training camps in Pakistan after 18 Indian troops had been killed near India-Burma border. Not that but violation of the Line of Control and Indian firing on Pakistan territory has been the order of the day since Modi came to power.

Pakistan has long outstanding dispute with India on Kashmir and the latter never tried to resolve the same. Pakistan and India agreed to composite dialogue to resolve all outstanding issues, but India broke the process on one pretext or the other.

In the recent days a renewed wave of freedom from India has erupted in Held Kashmir in the course of which hundreds of Kashmiri leaders have been put behind bars while a ruthless tide of brutality has been unleashed on Kashmiris. It has been an admitted policy of Pakistan to extend moral support to the Kashmiris’ struggle for their right to self-determination and India has never admitted that right.

Since Sharm el-Sheikh meeting between PM Gilani and PM Monhmohan in July 2009, Pakistan has been providing proofs to India, America and others states about RAW’s role in creating disturbance in Pakistan, which has never been admitted by New Delhi.

The voice against RAW activity in Pakistan should have been loud and clear as at this time the defence institutions, politicians and the public all are on the same page and speak in unison. Feeling pulse of the moment and rising to the occasion, the Pakistan government was mulling to raise this issue at the international forum from International Court of Justice to the United Nations. For this purpose, Pakistan’s permanent representative to the UN was called and briefed by the prime minister on the line of action against India. Consideration was also being given to the option of exploiting the UN general Assembly session in September next to agitate the issue through the address of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Pakistan has never adopted hostile policy towards India despite the fact that New Delhi never shirked opportunity of maligning and subduing Islamabad to assert is supremacy. Pakistan also never denied talks and peaceful settlement of the issues, but India mostly gave a cold shoulder to these gestures.

Intellectuals say given the behaviour of Modi towards Nawaz Sharif in the last year’s Saarc conference, the current invitation of talks by India to Pakistan shows a change in the India attitude after it found ineffectiveness of its policy to mitigate the impression of hostility towards Islamabad at the global level. They say it was also an opportunity for Pakistan to focus on the RAW involvement otherwise agreement on discussing all unresolved issues suited Indian policy.

But what media reports is that no such matter was taken up during the meeting and the same old issues were repeated.

Despite all that, gains and losses of interaction between the two top leaders have yet to be assessed. Whether Pakistan would go ahead with its planned action of moving the forum against India or it has neutralised
Pakistan’s efforts on this score is a matter which will be answered in the times to come.

The author of article fails to grasp a very simple point that RAW terrorism matter wasn't taken up because there is no solid evidence of RAW involvement. I appreciate the efforts by the author in is trying to build a narrative equating Pak sponsored terrorism with India sponsored one but he needs to realize that without any evidence such narrative is not going to work.

Pakistani Politicians have left no stone upturned to make mockery out it's foreign policy at world's stage

I wish Nawaz remains PM for next 10 years at least... If both of the PM move ahead on development agenda, believe me this region is going to change in coming years. Let Pak army have trust on him.

Never expected anything better from him so it wasnt unexpected at all. It has only degraded Mr NS more.

I guess Pakistan is not really interested to highlight the forces behind terrorism , otherwise they have effectively done it long ago. I think its because politicians need terrorism to hide their weaknesses and corruption.

Nawaz is more concerned with keeping his investments in India safe.
All modi told Nawaz was instructions on how to misuse Pakistani tax payer money on vanity projects like metro bus, while reducing investment on Dams and Powerplants so that Pakistan is forced to import electricity from India

Pakistan will always fail to highlight Indian terrorism because everyone knows why

Which other country wait for 10 long years and 50000+ deaths to expose others? Most probably establishment lies to deflect the blame.
