2. People of Afghanistan don't like farming. It's not in their blood. Unlike Pakistan where farming has been done for thousands of year.

Not likely because tons and tons of flour is smuggled into Afghanistan from Pakistan every day from my province and thus my people often get the bad quality flour at higher rates.

Farming requires patience and round the year hard work. People in Pakistan have harvested these lands for thousands of years. It's in our blood and part of the culture now. On the other hand, Afghans are different. You have to look at it from their perspective. There is lot of poverty and no strong central government. A common Afghan has to deal with corrupt officials, local warlord men and insurgents, all at the same time. He is in desperate need of cash too. Growing poppy is best bet for him. It brings lot of cash in short time. Government offocials, warlord and insurgents, all take their cut on his income so they also promote poppy cultivation which generates cash quicker.

Drug abuse has been a major problem in Afghanistan and some adjacent parts of Pakistan.

Pakistan exports wheat at much cheaper rate to Afghanistan compared to any other country. Our domestic wheat prices are much lower than international price. Secondly my own faimly member are involved with exports of wheat to Afghanistan and according to them afghan importers prefer to buy last seasons wheat because they make more profit that way. Kabulis still import 1st grade wheat products for themselves but in reality afghans prefer last seasons wheat crop bcz it is almost half the price of international rate. On contrary to this news pakistan has proper storage facilities for all the wheat they export hence even if they are year old they are still good for consumption. If india wants to take the market then then they will have to offer cheaper rate which is impossible due to higher transport cost. If they are using chahbahar then iran will also demand transit fees which increase the price further. Pakistan and central Asia are still the best source of affordable wheat.

Why would Afghans go for legal buying with strings like trade taxes attached to it when they are getting smuggled flour from KpK everyday. There is little legal market both for India and Pakistan.

When Torkham border was closed between Afghanistan and Pakistan for few days recently the prices of Fruits in my Province and City gone down massively

The smuggled wheat is of top quality and is not accessable by poor afghans. Secondly smuggled wheat only makes a fraction of export. There is more stuff smuggled from afghanistan which is bad for our economy.

Now that Chabahar port has opened a transit route to Afghanistan and Central Asia, India can replace Pakistan in exporting wheat and flour to Afghanistan. The strong and friendly bilateral relations between India and Afghanistan and India’s huge wheat surplus make it a good candidate for wheat imports.

What are the Afghans waiting for? Take wheat from India, but also take millions of Afghan refugees out of Pakistan. You can't have it both ways.

It would be easier for Russia to supply through Central Asia and Russia is biggest exporter of Wheat.
