Pakistan: Afghanistan’s Unreliable Breadbasket

Not likely because tons and tons of flour is smuggled into Afghanistan from Pakistan every day from my province and thus my people often get the bad quality flour at higher rates.

But isn't Pakistan sealing/closing its borders with Afghanistan and this smuggling would no longer be possible.

The border is too long to seal specially mountainious porous areas. However there is another dimension to smuggling and that officials and traders joining hands and thus selling flour even when cross border flour transportation is banned even if it is legal due to shortage of the same in our province

People like you have been rotting for this to happen for the last decade now, and most will take this dream to their graves.

True that, market dynamics decide it and for now AF is putting her efforts in increasing internal productions and diversify her imports.

BTW : Afghani = currency

America’s longest ever war ,this longest of wars has cost nearly $1 trillion to date – all of its borrowed money that still rages in the mountains of Afghanistan. For the past thirteen years, America, the world’s greatest military and economic power, has been trying to crush the life out of Afghan Pashtun mountain tribesmen whose primary sin is fiercely opposing occupation by the US and its local Afghan opium-growing stooges.

The saintly President Barack Obama repeatedly proclaimed the Afghan War over and staged phony troops withdrawals. He must have believed his generals who kept claiming they had just about defeated the resistance alliance, known as Taliban.

But the war is far from being `almost won.’ The US-installed puppet regime in Kabul of President Ashraf Ghani, a former banker, holds on only thanks to the bayonets of US troops and the US Air Force. Without constant air strikes, the US-installed Ghani regime and its drug-dealing would have been swept away by Taliban and its tribal allies.

Afghan government themselves grow opium and blame the world for not having enough to eat? Why not import "A" grade wheat or flour from India and have the Indian government subsidize it, it's a win win for Indians and their opium allies in Afghanistan.

Says someone who is sitting in Canada and knows better than Afghan Pakhtoon :)

Talis do not represent me nor any other pakhtoons in AF. They are nothing but a proxy, you can have them rule you if you want them so much :)

Oh really, one has to live in the area to know what's happening, then how do you explain Ghani who lived outside Afghanistan before being elected president local population of American citizens.

So, I take it these people do.

Ghani's inability to corral parliament has sown discontent among an Afghan population weary of government dysfunction – an $8.2 billion U.S. effort to counter illicit narcotics production, for example, has largely failed, and Afghanistan remains the world's largest producer of opium.

Ghani notoriously fired his entire cabinet late last year after frustrations in appointing new leaders. But perhaps one of the most visceral examples of his impatience is the Kabul Bank scandal, in which reports emerged that bank executives had funneled hundreds of millions of dollars into their own coffers. Despite pressure from the U.S., Karzai – whose brother, Mahmoud, was a bank shareholder connected to the scandal – ultimately balked at an investigation or instituting banking reforms.

Ghani campaigned on reopening the case and did so shortly after taking office, vowing a full investigation and a nationwide fight against corruption. One year later, no results have materialized.

Just because you claim to be or are a Pakhtoon, means jack all as it doesn't changes the reality on the ground, which is visible from MARS and only you for obvious reasons can't see it.:big_boss:

When mad dogs start chewing on the basket that provides them bread, they should expect the basket to not showup with the bread pretty soon.

Second that. Also, we need to look after own citizens first and their needs before thinking about exporting our food commodities. There are plenty in Pakistan who are struggle to find two meals a day.
