We are NOT INDEPENDENT
our PM elected from America. Our COAS selected by america
A truly democratic process (with institutional safeguards) protected by an independent judiciary is the only way for a meritocracy to flourish. For us to be truly independent of our own self imposed weaknesses.

The democratic world should not back an oligarchy in hopes of finding a shortcut. A strong Pakistan that is accountable to the needs of the people will be a stable global partner, especially as it is set to become the largest Muslim majority country within a decade, and sits at the crossroads of Asia, when the west wants to show it is championing democracy over autocracy.

A truly democratic process
can sometimes produce unexpected results that can lead to complications. Examples: 1970 elections in Pakistan, 2006 elections in Palestine, 2011 elections in Egypt. This may be a good time to focus on economic development without the rancor of party politics.

Happy independence day
Nice tradition dating back to General Gracey and his protege General ayub

This is probably the worst independence day I am experiencing in my whole life. Don't feel any connection with the celebrations or spirit of the day.
Felt pretty much the same in Pakistan except the weather

Don't worry people will soon be back to normal and will forget about a certain prisoner, it's nothing new.

For prosperity you need stability
Hybrid regimes are never stable

It's either democracy or dictatorship. What we need is that military should step up and become a true dictatorship with military leaders swapping role just like how China is.

Now pakistan need some sort of western acceptance..that means we need to give something back which probably by accepting Israel may be something that will make uncle sam happy as clearly Afghan war isn't something we can play with now
