It should be resolved quickly, but in today's world the rapid dissemination of information through the media and others means has meant that even minority groups have a significant voice.
Think for example if this was Punjab province that was to be named/renamed, do you think, given the calls for a separate Seraiki province and the significant minority of Seraiki speakers in Southern Punjab, that there would not be opposition to renaming it 'Punjab' vs 'Punjab-Seraikh'?
As it is, I suspect that in the coming years demands for the creation of more administrative units within the Pakistani Federation is only going to grow, especially if the performance of the provincial governments continues to remain abysmal, despite the passage of the current constitutional reforms and NFC award that grant considerable economic and administrative autonomy to the provinces.'
But yes, I do think that the minister should be condemned for his anti-Pakistan comments. Whatever the name of the province, it does not change the identity of its inhabitants. The Pakhtun were Pakhtun when it was part of empires of the past, they were Pakhtun when it was called NWFP, and they will remain Pakhtun whether it is called NWFP or Pakhtunkhwa.
It is a silly thing to start clamoring for doom over, when there are far more urgent issues that need to be resolved, like consistent electricity, functioning infrastructure and easy availability of basic supplies etc.
