ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Navy Ship Yarmook is currently making a port call in Turkey on its transit to Pakistan symbolizing the historic and brotherly ties as well as ever-growing defence cooperation between the two countries.

On its arrival, PNS YARMOOK was extended a very warm welcome by the Turkish Navy and was escorted from Bosphorus to Gölcük Naval Base by the Turkish coast guard.

During the ongoing visit, the commanding officer of PNS Yarmook called on Turkish Navy Fleet Commander, Surface Fleet Commander, Gölcük Naval Base Commander and the Mayor of Gölcük, said a press release received here Thursday.

During these interactions, he conveyed the warm sentiments of Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Zafar Mehmood Abbasi, for the people of Turkey in general and the Turkish Navy in particular.

A reception dinner was hosted onboard PNS Yarmook on Wednesday in which the Fleet Commander Turkish Navy, Vice Admiral Ercument Tatlioglu, Ambassador of Pakistan Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi, and senior officers of Turkish Navy, as well as representatives of Turkish defence industries, participated.

Speaking on the occasion, the Ambassador of Pakistan to Turkey Syrus Sajjad Qazi said that Pakistan and Turkey enjoyed unparalleled fraternal relations and had always stood by one another in the face of all challenges.

He welcomed the ever-expanding defence cooperation between the two sides and assured Pakistan’s continued support for Turkey’s legitimate security and humanitarian concerns in the region.

Commanding Officer PNS Yarmook, in his remarks, highlighted the deteriorating human rights and humanitarian situation in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJ&K).

He also condemned India’s illegal and unilateral actions of August 5, 2019, in IOJK in contravention of the international law and called for the resolution of the dispute in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

This ship will carry a good punch after all the weapons and sensors are installed .. looking forward for 2 more of these , with Turkish and Chinese systems .

i dont think PN is going for 2 more after the initial order of 2 is complete. i believe it will take naother year for the these two corvettes to be fully armed and uploaded with sensors and radars etc. a very welcome statement

So, no space for an AD system in the front? looks like only a main gun will be placed. maybe 2x4 launchers of anti ship missiles in the mid, and a CIWS.

Yep. The main job of the corvettes is policing the EEZ (and possibly ELINT work), and in war time, fire AShM. I'd guess the PN is going to prioritize the frigates (i.e., 054A/P and MILGEM-J) for true multi-mission capabilities.

The media wing of the PN is much more professional & savvier than the ISPR. It shows why the position should be rotated among the services.

Indeed. If CJCSC cannot be rotated then least they can do is to rotate DG ISPR among all three services.
