Command of CTF-151 rotates among the participating navies. Previous commanders have been from USA, Korea, Singapore and Turkey. IN is not part of CTF-151. Also the Russian and Chinese Navies are not part of it.

yes we are doing this for the fourth time i guess,

Combined Task Force 151 or CTF-151 or Combined Task Force One Five One is an international naval task force, set up in response to piracy attacks in shipping lanes off the coast of Somalia.

CTF 151 operates in the Gulf of Aden and off the eastern coast of Somalia covering an area of approximately 1.1 million square miles.

CTF 151 is a multinational task force established in January 2009 to conduct counterpiracy operations under a mission-based mandate throughout the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) area of responsibility to actively deter, disrupt and suppress piracy in order to protect global maritime security and secure freedom of navigation for the benefit of all nations.

Turkey will transfer the command of CTF-151 to Pakistan on 29 November 2010.

There will be a ceremony on board F-99 HMS Cornwall at Fujairah Port, UAE.

Currently CTF-151 is commanded by vice Admiral Sinan Ertuğrul and his flagship is F-490 TCG Gaziantep

i wonder what will be the flag ship, i wish F-22p see its first action!!

Pakistan Navy assumes command of anti-piracy task force

Pakistan Navy on Monday assumed command of the anti-piracy International Task Force 151 in the Arabian Sea.

The navy will be taking command over Task Force 151 which seeks to maintain law in the seas and seeks to stop piracy.

Task Force 151 will be headed by Commodore Aleem. Other countries’ forces will also be included in this force. It will have jurisdiction over the Gulf of Aden, Horn of Africa and Somalia’s territorial waters.

The ceremony to mark the occasion will be held today at Faujira. Pakistan has earlier been a member of permanent Task Force 150.

Piracy is a growing problem, especially off the coast of Somalia, with both the number of attacks and the ransoms demanded spiking over the past two years.

Pakistan Assumes Command of Combined Task Force 151

MANAMA, Bahrain - Pakistan Navy Cmdr. Abdul Aleem assumed command of Combined Task Force 151 from Turkish Navy Rear Adm. Sinan Ertugrul during a ceremony held aboard HMS Cornwall while in port Fujairah, UAE Nov. 29.

CTF 151 is a multinational task force established in Jan. 2009 to conduct counterpiracy operations in and around the Gulf of Aden and Somali Basin.

"Pakistan has been a valued partner in Combined Maritime Forces for many years now," said Cmdr. Tim Fraser, deputy commander, CMF. "They've had a major impact on maritime security operations in the region, having commanded CTF 150 four times and will now use those skills countering piracy in the Gulf of Aden and Somali Basin in CTF 151."

As CTF 151 commander, Ertugrul led ships from Australia, Republic of Korea, Pakistan, Singapore, Thailand, Turkey, the U.K. and U.S. The command staff included personnel from Bahrain, Canada, Turkey, the U.K. and U.S.

Turkey's period of command included the retaking of the M/V Magellan Star from pirate control; a the rescue of refugees in the Gulf of Aden and the first involvement of Royal Thai Navy ships in CTF 151.

"Given the importance of this region to international trade and the world economy, it could be argued that the problem of piracy has the potential to affect every individual on the planet," said Ertugrul, reflecting on his three months in command. "Consequently, during my period of command it has been clear to me that international cooperation must underpin everything we do.

Ertugrul stressed the constant awareness joint Naval forces must have to continue to be successful in their counterpiracy mission.

"Those who seek to commit piracy at sea have shown themselves to be resourceful and flexible, modifying their behaviour as we frustrate their tactics," he said. "Naval forces must therefore remain astute and adaptable. However, the pirates should know this -- we are here to stay as long as is necessary."

I believe this is the first time Pakistan Navy has assumed command of Task Force-151 which was only established in 2009.

You are perhaps refering to command of Task Force-150, which has different role.
