Pak-India joint economic zone proposed

LAHORE (APP) - Pak India Business Council (PIBC) Pakistan on Sunday presented three proposals to promote trade relations between India and Pakistan by removing formal and informal trade barriers.

The proposals were approved in the PIBC meeting presided over by its Chairman Noor Muhammad Kasuri here.

The proposals include setting up of joint economic zone between both the countries, making energy corridor from Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan to India and Qatar-Iran-Pakistan to India.

Such an energy corridor would help to overcome energy shortfall in Pakistan besides earning billions of dollars for the country as a transit charge. Such earning would have multiple benefits for economy of Pakistan to help the country to successfully counter various challenges on financial side.

The meeting also proposed exchange of experts delegations between both the countries to find out new opportunities to develop trade and investment in both the countries.

The proposals would be send to the stakeholders, media organizations, trade and commerce bodies, intellectuals and parliamentarians in both the countries, the PIBC chairman said addressing the meeting.

He said that the whole world including the USA and China was looking for tapping the trade potentials of fast growing Indian economy.
 
well i hope our political setup's do consider what these wise people propose
good for both countries if its implementes
relations would be better if their is more interdependence
i believe india has setup joint economic zone with bangladesh and one with pakistan would be nice
would increase people to people contact

Not possible because Pakistan is not interested. Pakistan has not given India MFN status. Everyone including China have good trade relation India and taking advantages of rapid growth except Pakistan.
