‘Pak-China Cultural Street’ to be established
Afridi says cultural streets to serve entertainment, cuisines, literature, theatre
LAHORE: The Pak-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) on Thursday called for establishing ‘Pak-China Cultural Street’ in different cities of the country to promote cultural harmony between China and Pakistan.
Talking to the media, PCJCCI President Shah Faisal Afridi said the cultural street would also serve as a fascinating entertainment place for people of Pakistan. He added that the cultural street could include Chinese cuisines, calligraphy, literature, martial arts, movies, theatre and dresses.
Moreover, traditional Chinese festival such as the spring festivals and mid-autumn day could also be celebrated in those streets of Pakistan, along with Pakistani local festivals such as Shindoor Mela, Mela Chiraghan, and Jashn-e-Baharaan, he said.
Faisal Afridi said the cultural links should extend beyond the traditional modes of inter-state contacts and could include student and faculty exchange programmes between universities, academic conferences and professional associations of Chinese and Pakistani experts and the civil society collaborations.
He asserted that the interactions between the Pakistani and Chinese media should also be encouraged along with joint ventures in creative arts like cinema, theatre and music, led by inter-governmental collaborations. He said that Pakistan had the potential to become the safest place of investment with collaboration with China in all fields of trade and industry.
