Thank you.

Thank you.

it is about time we recognize enormous contributions of Pak Army in the development and safety of the country.

Our areas bordering Afghanistan are in relative peace only because of HUGE sacrifices of our jawans and officers.

Gawadar can change the future of Balochistan. Only if anti-Balochistan BLA group can be contained.

Great work by the Pakistan Army like always.

Step in and make it work.

Great work, yes surely, but why should the Army be involved in socio-economic development at all? The Constitution gives it the responsibility of defending the country only. Why is it extending itself to areas that are not its responsibility? It should be fighting the terrorists and separatists first and foremost.

That is a very wise question with a very very straightforward question...the previous government had taken a lax position and was practically 'hands up'...they were like 'aye lo, tuaday hawalay'...the rehabilitation, reconstruction and sustenance of the affected areas was given straight to the Army, the government didn't want to get into this work.

. .
:raise: Why is it so that every time the party that gets elected in center also forms govt in Balochistan?
How can we see a prosperous Balochistan if there is political unrest and their true representatives are not allowed to rule them.

We know that this approach does not work when government abdicates its responsibilities. The solution does not lie in Army taking up the slack and shouldering responsibilities that are not its to bear, but to make the government do its job. Two wrongs do not make a right.

It isn't as if the Army took it by choice...it just had to. What was the alternative?

Why? The Army cannot and should not accept an order that requires it to act outside its purview according to the Constitution. The alternative is to turn down getting involved in socio-economic development outright, but to be involved in providing security as needed to the civilian government in doing its assigned jobs. That is the proper way. This approach being carried out has failed before and will fail again.

It hasn't failed till now, on the contrary people are very happy in those areas.

What else should the Army have done? Leave it? Then no government there and no Army, people get even more frustrated and the Taliban returns...that isn't something we want do we?

FYKI, the govt can requisition the Army to assist it at any time.

All these projects (Kassa Marble, Chamalnag Coal, DUki Coal etc) less a few educational initiatives were undertaken by the Army on the instructions of the Provincial Govt. i had a scanned copy of CM Balochistan's letter that he wrote to the Army requesting it to assist his govt in restoring peace, bring the dissents to table and kick start the Chamalang and Kassa Marble Project, may be i can post that.

Now sure, as usual you would ask why?

Well, if i tell you that a common Baloch does not believe in his leaders, he squarely rejects the bureaucracy and simply refuses to acknowledge Policing authority, but then out of respect and with the belief that men in khaki will not let him down is ready to listen to what these men in khaki has to say (because he knows that they will work without greed, mischief and self projection), why does it bothers you if the civilian govt is requisitioning the Army?

i had a detailed answer to these questions of yours here somewhere on PDF, lemmer see if i can dig it up, though this is sheer common sense and doesnt require any explanation to as why would the Army do such acts, but then i still may post the reply, if i could find.
