Pak Amraams can be made ineffective: US assured Manohar Parrikar

US has a mechanism to make them ineffective if they are used during war. “If they use it for an offensive purpose, they can interfere with the mechanism and make them ineffective,”
I don't think so. Yes they can stop providing us spare parts, and upgradation. But there is nothing they can do to stop us from using F16 in our defence.

I won't write off the possibility of the US making the AMRAAM ineffective.. but not directly as with a "kill switch".. most likely by giving some secrets of the missile to the Indian side.. because there is a precedent to it in the Falkland war where France had to give some secret ciphers of its deadly Exocet missiles to the UK.. so the possibility is there.. but then the US by doing so will give its secret to Russia too since there are Indian high ranking generals who are totally pro-Russians.. So it is a possibility but a very difficult decision..
Hell will freeze over before they do that.

Ok.

The assurances were made in 2015 when then defence minister Manohar Parrikar strongly raised the issue of supply of Amraams and fighter jets to Pakistan

New Delhi: The United States had assured India that Pakistan won’t use F16s and Amraams (advanced medium range air-to-air missiles) for offensive purposes as the US had an effective end-user monitoring process and the systems could be made ineffective if they were misused.

The assurances were made in 2015 when then defence minister Manohar Parrikar strongly raised the issue of supply of Amraams and fighter jets to Pakistan with his US counterpart Ashton Carter, top government sources told ET.

Sources who were part of the discussions between Parrikar and Carter in 2015 said two specific issues were raised in discussions that took place in New Delhi and Washington. “One of the issues was that the Amraams have a long range and they cannot be used against terrorists but would be targeted at us,” a three-star rank officer who was part of the discussions told ET.

Carter responded to this by assuring that the missiles will not be used against India and the US has a mechanism to make them ineffective if they are used during war. “If they use it for an offensive purpose, they can interfere with the mechanism and make them ineffective,” the officer, who was involved in the talks, told ET.

The second issue was the potential of misuse of F16s to deliver nuclear bombs against India. “An assurance was given that in case of a potential nuclear attack, the US can disable the aircraft. That, if they use nukes, they won’t be able to operate the F16s,” the officer said.

After efforts to get the US administration to ban the subsidised sale of eight of the advanced Block 52 version of F16s to Pakistan in 2015, India had lobbied at the US Senate against the deal. Sources said India was successful in convincing members of the US Senate that giving subsidies for the deal would not send the right message. The chairman of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Bob Corker, said in March 2016: “Prohibiting a taxpayer subsidy sends a message to Pakistan that it needs tochange its behaviour, but preventing the purchase of US aircraft would do more harm than good by paving the way for countries like Russia and China to sell to Pakistan while also inhibiting greater cooperation on counterterrorism.”

The US won't risk the reputation of their entire Military Industrial Complex over trivial kill switches. Weapons platforms work as advertised; otherwise no one will buy them. OTOH; now we know that the Israeli EW suite didn't perform upto spec.
USAF gave India a false confidence boost in the Cope excercises by not utilising their AWACS platforms and other restrictive ROE's; and that put the USAF at a huge disadvantage which enabled the IAF to score kills.
In the engagement with PAF however; things turned out not the same. The MiG's tried out the same manouevers; conveniently forgetting that the sensor environment is not identical. PAF blew them out of the sky subsequently.
Since the time of the Sindhi King they haven't changed their tactics vis-à-vis the Muslim forces....

Point is, control is in place, which will work at will of US, irrespective of Pakistan's offensive or defensive maneuvers.

And is PL 15s from usa , who will take care of them , cause now adays we are using chinese stuff ???

Sell the F-16s and divert the money for advanced JF-17 blocks and 5th Gen. plane.

we should allow china to enable f16 to carry chinese bvr which we use on jf17
It is possible. F-16 fleet need to send to China and repack the radar with Chinese radar and SD-10 can be mounted for F-16.

These Russian imported Su-30MKK for PLAAF is able to fire PL-12(SD-10) missile after rumours that original Russian radar are replaced with more advanced Chinese radar.

Indian Source ???? ;)
Sounds more like conspiracy theories without any reliable references
BTW USA can track anything using GPS which f16/and USA supplied jdam use for.precision strike but its only conspiracy theory that USA can remote shut down f16/or its radar guided amraams f16 r overhauled by Pakistan and any such supposed kill switch would be removed but no cure for GPS tracking other then stop using GPS which would hinder its precision strike capability
As for nukes our f16 don't have a special link system used on USA jets to arm the nuke while jet carrying it is in air near Target for safety purposes but our f16 can still carry an already armed nuke before takeoff but that would be very dangerous :)

According to Indians,Chinese stuff doesnt work, whatever IAF has is out of this world technology. Nobody can shoot down IAF planes, they all keep falling down because of technical problems:enjoy:
