Does not make sense to shift F-16 from PAF Shabaz as we spent millions building that base specifically for them, it's almost brand new!

At a guess I suspect that it is to shift planes from bases that are getting congested by surroundding cities.

Masroor, Peshawar, Chaklala are basically major PAF bases in the centre of cities.

Afghanistan can be tackled from Peshawar and Samungli - the third base is more about taking assets out of The eastern enemies immediate reach and keeping away from urban areas where the beardos will be used for attacks on key assets by them. India has a good supply available of supposed “Aashiq r rasool” who can be coerced to attack air bases and other military installations during wartime.

@Bilal Khan (Quwa) There was a book called “The intelligence war”(something like that) published mid-late 80’s which gave an overview of intel methods worldwide. In it there was a page or two on how GRU had plans to use civilian dissent or terrorist groups like the IRA/ETA to hit NATO bases during times of crisis or war and would take advantage of based close to urban centers to minimize reaction time for riot or security squads. The advice given was that NATO is best to either move bases out of urban centers entirely or increase the perimeter by multiple times to ensure security. Unfortunately, I think material like that never made its way or was put on the back burner in Pakistan’s case. Otherwise both PN and PAF could have avoided a few losses - still, one has to wander around interior Sindh on hunting trips to see certain surprises coming up unexpectedly and find barbed wire in places there was none.

you might have hit the nail on the head!!! On a serious note, IF J-10s are coming they can not be housed at Jacobabad due to US Sensitivities. So another airbase in the vicinity of J'abad to cover Southern Punjab and North & Central Sindh and western approaches but housing the Chinese Dragon. This is just a guess.

PAF to establish new air base in Balochistan







QUETTA: Pakistan Air Force ((PAF) proposed a land to be acquired to establish the air base in Notal area of Naseerabad District.

Pakistan Air Force along with District administration Naseerabad visited the Notal area, said a press release issued here on Tuesday.
According to Deputy Commissioner Naseerabad Azhar Shahzad, a delegation of PAF visited over a proposed land to be acquired for establishing air base. After cordial meeting, the lingering project will be taken up with Board of Revenue.
This will develop the abyss of Notal area mostly uncultivated into a develop area which will finally shift focus from Jacobabad to Naseerabad. Around 26,000 acres to be acquired and rate of private land had been fixed in 2020, 200000/acre from 1/2 km from Railway line and similarly state land Rs175000/ acre.
This will be soon materialised and opened up the opportunity doors for locals and development of District Naseerabad.

different group, you seriously need to stop bundling everyone together. one is a political party, that carried out violence much like ppp and mqm. the other group were proper anti state elements looking to overthrow the current system and put an alternate one in its place.

First start by clearing katchi abadis etc around air bases like Masroor (far cheaper than acquiring new land and developing it). and the PAF should use some muscle to stop development of housing societies near its bases.
