I have a question regarding the HMCS:

HMCS vastly increases situational awareness but to deploy missiles at extreme angles from the boresight is another thing.

The missile e.g. AIM-9L/P has its limits as well.

So if a pilot tracks a bogie off-boresight with his HMCS, he still can't deploy a missile against it unless the missile itself has the MANEUVERABILITY to successfully hit the target at such extreme angles.

You are correct , that's why the race is on to develop high speed , highly maneuverable HOBS IR guided missiles which can sustain high G turns & still stay on course , the top of the line available is AIM-9X.

Chinese Russians and Europeans are joining the race with their own projects. F-35 has the ability to hit the target at the rear of the aircraft without much maneuvering , so yes - sky's the limit.

Can't give a specific model , but it has to be either S.African or Brazilian. We would have to wait for Block-II.

Python 5 is Israeli & PAF hasn't ordered AIM-9X yet , there is some talk about it though. We do have some 500 of AIM-9M Sidewinder which are next best to the AIM-9X. These ones have HOBS capability and can sustain high G turns & are extremely effective. USAF uses them in large quantities. AIM-9M is also used on the Raptors.

The subsequent AIM-9M ("Mike") has the all-aspect capability of the L model while providing all-around higher performance. The M model has improved capability against infrared countermeasures, enhanced background discrimination capability, and a reduced-smoke rocket motor. These modifications increase its ability to locate and lock-on to a target and decrease the chance of missile detection.

Deliveries of the initial AIM-9M-1 began in 1982. The only changes from the AIM-9L to the AIM-9M were related to the Guidance Control Section (GCS). Several models were introduced in pairs with even numbers designating Navy versions and odd for USAF: AIM-9M-2/3, AIM-9M-4/5, and AIM-9M-6/7 which was rushed to the Persian Gulf area during Desert Shield to address specific threats expected to be present. The AIM-9M-8/9 incorporated replacement of five circuit cards and the related parentboard to update infrared counter counter measures (IRCCM) capability to improve 9M capability against the latest threat IRCM.

Chinese have a project in making for a similar missile .

There was an effort to develop a high end WVRAAM at home , haven't heard anything for a while.

i stand corrected. MAA 1-B has arrived in pakistan 2-3 months back and integrated to JF-17 and mirage. The arrival of MAA 1 B is obivously told by reputed and reliable insider of Pak Def ( H Khan) who also gave the list of what weapons has been integrated with JF-17 . Above poster has confused the whole thing and here are two links, one of janes and one of flight international which confirms pakistan purchased MAA 1 B

well i know that they had signed about the purchase of MAR 1b earliear ,but had they inducted it that part i dont know as U are
stating .But any links or extra info u have that they had inducted it .Then plz post becoz i cant deny that bold part u mentioned
