PAF preparations for 2020

J31 was always a decade away but some people were to emotional to accept the fact. PAF really needs to get rid of old dying F7 & Mirage which have now started to crash & is alarming for PAF. The truth is, PAF have got no choice but to negotiate for platforms which are already in service. Surely PAF will not go for expensive aircrafts such as Rafales, Griphon & even Sukhois. PAF should go for available option of J10's & start replacing the old dying fleet of Mirages, which in fact is a good choice but I don't see it happening. I am not sure what PAF is up to& what exactly are they searching for. One thing is for sure that they are not good not going to wait cor 15 or 20 more years, surely they are searching for a fighter jet, but which one are they looking for is a big question.

I don't know if the PAF is looking at them but Italy and Spain are offering their Typhoon Tranche 1s to the market. The issue though, besides having to foot for bespoke upgrades (for future-proofing), is the weapons package. Seriously, what are we going to be able to buy for those Typhoons? We'd have to use our AIM-120C5 stock, I guess, but what else (without drawing India's ire)? A-Darter for HOBS is plausible, but for BVR we would be stuck.

Can Thunders and mostly older blocks of falcons provide PAF with a suitable deterrence against rafale/mirage/su30mki/mig29 threat. Especially outnumbered 3-1

I expect they're interested in heavy platform to ultimately replace the Mirage ROSE and Mirage 5PAs used in air interdiction (ROSE-I), strike (ROSE-II/III), and maritime operations (Mirage 5PA).

Are ROSE-Is used for air interdiction? I would have thought they were only good enough for interception / air defense.

In 5-10 years time there will be a chance to lease the F-35.

30-50 F-35's in the fleet for 10 years along with 250 JF-17's.

Should give us enough time to build a 5th gen fighter.

F-35 for Pakistan ? and that too in 5-10 years time ? Go home you are drunk. Pakistan is never going to get F-35 or you can say the nearest possibility that Pakistan could acquire F-35 is about 30 years from today and that too if US could able to develop next generation fleet and relation of both countries remain intact.

Defensive Counter-Air [DCA] would probably be the more correct current terminology. Of course, the USAF means something different by Air Interdiction these days than the classical strike mission definition, so their terminology encompasses DCA/OCA [Offensive Counter-Air] portions as elements of Air Interdiction along with strikes on enemy bases.

Nah, seriously - J-31 is long ways away

the only way to have an edge over IAF is by procuring 5th gen. stealth aircrafts

JF-17s are more than enough to counter IAF.

Note that IAF would not have any 5th generation fighter at least until 2030.

And these are pre orders with delivery scheduled upto 2025

we are talking NOW between TODAY and 2020

su30mki pesa radars and tvc
mig29smt/k upgraded with new radars missles /HMS

THERE ARE OPTIONS but what will you do ??????????????????? realistically
