PAF and The Case for Eurofighter Typhoon

There won't be any war in the near future. Neither India nor Pak will dare to wage a full fledged war as both countries have their economies growing and they would't want to screw that up. Except for a few border skirmishes & cross border firings, we don't see a potential full scale war. It would be better for Pakistan to invest in the JF program and 5th gen tech. I would want India to do the same by investing in Tejas with a solid project management team instead of going with the F16s or Gripens. It is always better to improve indigenous tech rather than going for foreign tech and begging for spares and additional aricrafts when needed. Just my two cents, Peace:cheers:
Nice words completely agreed.

.
So just because PAF chief was given guard of honor, you think we would get Typhoons??
Due to guard of honour, we're getting all 75 aircrafts for free.

The IAF is more concerned of China. This is the reason they want to have more aircraft in a relatively short period of time. War with Pakistan would seriously limit the IAF to gain any significance in a two front or three front war which India is talking about these days.

What you are suggesting is possible but not practical.

1) JF17 and HQ9 / S300 could provide Pakistan territorial denial capabilities.
2) Air superiority and deep strike capability would still fall on the F-16's which are not enough in PAF.
3) J-10's can not offer some thing more than what PAF can achieve with JF-17 and F-7 PG's and Mirage III/V's. All these aircraft would be used in the same role as that of J-10's. Point defence and aerial deniability with fraction of the cost of J-10's.
4) PAF would like to go for aircraft that are to be produced in numbers other wise it would be impossible to produce 5th gen aircraft in limited budget and numbers. J-31 being an export version of Chinise 5 th gen aircraft would not achieve a large number of orders hence the costs would be relatively high. These might be almost similar to what PAF might have to pay to procure F-35's if allowed.
5) TFX is still a long way in future.

ACM said we are In talks with lockheed martin for F-35.
It will replace F-16 in future. But here J31 is wrecked because it is the official statement by ACM about F-35.

Ahhh this deadlock will burst mind.

Due to guard of honour, we're getting all 75 aircrafts for free.
Hey dude why you are ll maoing fun of that statement.
I am tired explaining that these were circumstances there.
The ACM RECEIVED GUARD OF HONOR WHICH OS NOT A NEW THING.
ACTUALLY THAT WAS A STATEMENT ON GEO NEWS SO I WROTE IT ALL.

.
Why Tranche 1/2??? Tranche 3 is already out.

Bro do you know the price tag of tranche 3 Kuwait has paid 8.5 billion $ for just 28 jets of tranche 3 so if we have 8.5 billion $ we can built our own new jet which could be par to EFT

The top brass of IA and IAF have always been corrupt and continuously pressurized the government to go for foreign products for their kickbacks and commissions. The Rafales are also being purchased to be deployed against China or India's eastern border due to China's numerical air superiority and advanced air defenses. Even if a two front war erupts, I'm pretty sure a couple of other nations may get involved, be it the countries having a conflict with China over SCS or the US, but would end within no time due to international pressure or India, China & Pak realizing there's no point in a war except to screw up their economies and send their people pack to poverty once again. But with no war anywhere in the near future, it would always be a wise decision to develop indigenous tech.

There will be options for PAF by the time F-16's are replaced.

Cool down dude. I was just kidding...

You must be kidding me dude. Having Billions in pocket doesn't mean that you can make a better fighter jet than the pioneer countries who have experience of more than 100 years & expertise worth in Trillions. For example, just look at HAL Tejas, with more than 30 years of production & Billions of dollars invested where does it stands today?

Answer: on trailer.

While the cost of EFT's project is more than $23bn, development cost of Tejas is around $1.5-2bn. It is also the reluctance of IAF's top brass to induct Tejas for the kickbacks and commissions they receive from foreign vendors and the congress govt which is a strong supporter of corruption and has been tainted with many scandals didn't insist IAF to induct indigenous tech like the IN. Why do you think the IN indigenously designs and develops their own destroyers, frigates and corvettes and inducts them in large numbers.

Giving guard of honour is just protocol anyone of that level will get ,not proof of offering anything .

for some month huge uproar SU-35 is coming Russia divorcing their long time wife but at the end nothing happened .
at the end we may see again US showing mercy on Pakistan and selling some F-16 .:(

Ohhh so you are the one who got away from BSF firing.. interesting:coffee:

Tranche 1 would still be better than block 52s right ? and btw guys Italy has 82 typhoons and 14 tranche 3s are on order .

In this year and point of time, Tranche 3 is the only way to go, 5-10 years ago tranche 1 and 2 would had been ok but not now.

Yes but you need to know, Germany(post nazi period), Italy, UK, and Spain never where able to produce modern day capable fighter jets. Thats why the Eurofighter program was created and why France left the program. It was only after these countries put money and resources together they could jointly produce a 4.5gen fighter jet.

Now indians will claim that it caan take off from a trailer that is why it is put here.
