PAEC aims to install 8,800MW of nuclear power capacity by 2030

2030? lol what a joke

Should be with in next 3 years

I would be extremely surprised if we have even 2000MW of Nuclear power plants installed by 2030. By the pace we are building these reactors it is very difficuilt that we will achieve this target.

Plans for new NPPs in Pakistan will be hostage to the availability of metallurgical support for the foreseeable future.

As long as the alloys needed for the reactor vessel and primary circuit piping are not available to Pakistan, or the fabrication expertise to utilise them even if available, PAEC can make plans, but their execution will depend on international suppliers and the associated geopolitical considerations.

A second factor would be the financial resources needed to get such a project off the ground. PAEC has the technical expertise no doubt to implement these plans.

Unfortunately, past history tells us that other factors will hinder utilizing the expertise PAEC has to benefit the country.

The lady from IAEA looks totally confused...

salamzz all
i wonder how could they acheive this target
they are not even generating 880 MW rite now
.
What do u think about the capital cost and runningg cost of Nuclear power plant in comparison wth hydel ?

Rs18 bn paid for only 90 MW electricity: Justice Ramday

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhamamd Chaudhry Wednesday hearing a case on alleged corruption in Rental Power Plants said in his remarks that the government cannot go ahead with an agreement that is impractical while Justice Khalil-ur-Rehman Ramday expressed his shock saying ‘how strange it is that only 90 MW electricity could be obtained after making payments amounting to Rs18 billion’.

Is there any specific reason why Pakistan has to rely on nuclear power for meeting some of the deficit?

India needs nuclear power because electricity needs are galloping and future projections project the same. Hence there will be a lot of environmental pressure for lesser greenhouse gas emissions. Plus nuclear power may be seen as a prestige issue.

Pakistan's economy is smaller and even if a growth of 10% is achieved the overall needs will be much smaller which implies less international pressure. Additionally nuclear power in smaller scales is quite costly.

How about a large dam on the Indus. Sure intial cost will be high, but clean renewable energy plus flood control. China could offer you lots of expertise ( three gorges)

building reactors is ok...wat abt the fuel?who is supplying them to you? or does pakistan have large resources of nuclear fuel?

Pakistan is self-sufficient in the front end of the fuel cycle for its NPPs.

Jamhoori Hakoumat ka aik aur waida pura hua

We will get every megawatt for our people at any price !!!
:rofl::rofl::hitwall::hitwall:

Pakistan should move towards hydel and nuclear power generation only
these kinds of projects like rental and other thermal power plants produce power at very high cost and also effect atmosphere

The differences are short term and long term in terms of planning, siting, financing, time from conception to power production, etc. etc.

If we have a cohesive long term strategy, you are correct.

If we continue to lurch from crisis to crisis, then rentals and thermal power units have their place too. :)

Why dont they consider for Solar & Wind power. Pakistan have huge land with no population, can easily be done. Also it will be enviorment friendly.

for short term they have offer from Iran as well
.
i dont understand y they have ignored all other options and are only stick to rental
