Astana. Rashad Suleymanov – APA. KADEX-2014 international defense exhibition is underway.

Various military equipments have today been presented as a part of the exhibition.



Naval industry is among priorities at the exhibition. Yesterday National Company Kazakhstan Engineering and STM Company of Turkey signed a protocol of intent on the construction of the shipyard to build warships on the Caspian Sea and cooperation on implementing engineering works.

Decision soon on Kazakh corvette

Kazakhstan's Ministry of Defence (MoD) will soon make a decision on procuring the first corvettes for its nascent naval force on the Caspian Sea, the commander of the country's navy has told IHS Jane's .

Over the past two months Kazakh MoD officials have conducted negotiations with seven companies in relation to the corvettes, said Captain Zhandarbek Zhanzakov on 24 May at the KADEX defence exposition in Astana.

"We hope to make a decision soon after KADEX," he said.

The requirements for the Kazakh corvette are broad, making it difficult to know what to propose, competitors in the tender said on condition of anonymity.
