What's new

Option's for PAF ?

Ok Guys , as today we heard the news of IAF getting 36 Rafale ( Fly Away ) condition , that is probably 2 sqs ..
this must have ring some bells in our PAF Official , cause we currently have no Fighter that can counter Rafale , for our block 52's there might be a chance only if we have in numbers ...
so basically in terms of Indo-Pak war , these 2 Rafale sqs will work as 4 sqs ,

so what i want to discuss that what option PAF have and what they might be thinking ?

we are already behind IAF in numbers and now in technology as well ..
Indians will keep saying that these Rafale's is for China , but obviously we must come up with something to counter this new threat in South Asia ..

some of the Option Pakistan may consider are ..

36 F-16's Block 52's from US ..
or
36 J-10B's from China
or
36 Typhoon ? very less chances
or
Nothing ... just invest in some long Range SAM's ..

Be realistic, there is no chance this 36 is the only Rafales the IAF will get the true figure is 144-225 by 2025/6 - this has been all but confirmed today.

When will PLAAF receive J31 and J20 ?

J-20 is China only.

J-31 would be available to PAF as soon as it is ready - 2020 seems realistic as the first flight of the prototype was in 2012.
The only worry is the engines and the WS-13A rated at 10,000 kg of thrust is the bare minimum to allow supercruise, but there is plenty of time between now and 2020 to make sure the engine is ready

:-) Yeah ! We are already upgrading our Anti air and Anti ship defence . We are buying whole new range of weapon system for all the three forces . Because the policy is to keep the status quo unchanged. So even of PAF buy 20 J20 IAF will blindly go for 50 PAKFA . (Example)

What you don't remember is that, now Pakistan is on shopping spree too as per their needs. :azn:

we are discussing only those Fly away Rafale , rest will take time .. and PAF will have much funds and options by that time .

Well, there is always the option of a free squadron of J-10B and the purchase of another squadron, some sites talk about 58 J-10B/Cs for Pakistan...

Chinese J-10 fighter is more comparable to Rafale/EF2000-DoD
Surprisingly, US Department of Defense ( DoD) has made its assessment of Chinese built J10 ( Nato code: F10) by declaring it’s more comparable to European built Rafale and EF2000 fighter rather than earlier estimated F16 BLK20/30. See the Air-force Magazine online report:

DOD seemed to offer a re-assessment of the capabilities of China’s F-10 fighter, which it previously had compared to the F-16 Block 30. (See “Washington Watch: Chinese Military Is Catching Up—Fast,” September 2005, p. 12.) In this latest version of the annual China report, the Pentagon said the F-10 is probably more comparable to the Eurofighter Typhoon and French Rafale, considered among the top three fighters in the world today, after the US F-22A. The Pentagon expects more than 1,200 F-10s will be built, and improved versions—the F-10A and “Super-10”—are in advanced development.

pakistan will have to go for j10b bcoz other aircrafts are expensive...and 5th gen will be required only when india gets 5th gen...j31 will not be avialble till 2025.so till then pakistan will have to go for j10b to increase fleet size not just for countring rafale as they have alot of su30mki and they are further upgrading them in near future...other option can be F16 V ,eurofigher is expensive

Like I said, 144-225 Rafales by 2025 that is the timeline we should all be discussing here- this is the cold hard reality, to pretend otherwise is not going to help anyone.

well but this thread is not for the timeline 2025 , by that time we will have something or may be so many things to counter Rafale ..
