What went wrong in case of lashkar e islam? Uptill now mangal bagh was calling himself man of pak army and he actually combated TTP...now they have joined hands with TTP and are combating pak army?

This was going full scale the moment those 25 soldiers were martyred.

A whole Brigade has been moved in to the area.

Things are getting very real now, air support, bombing raids, artillery all is going on now.

I asked a guy how is it like there, and he said it is the Pakistani Amazon jungle!

According to a Techie who is currently employed in that area , The resistance was greater then anticipated , the combination of LI + TTP has provided them with good manpower , and due to terrain it is helping them greatly ( hence more losses then usual) . and since the area is adjacent to the border it is easier for militants to relieve aid from the other side .

Mangal Bagh was seen in Tirah not so long ago , and it is not clear if he is still there or not.

Pakistan also put an request to coalition forces in Afg to block their side of the border , so these militants can be boxed in , but there has been no response for that yet. and it is unlikely that there will be any , knowing their history.

Things are heating up , Pakistan Army has gotten more careful after the hit they took in the First assault . Now Air force is being used to a grater extent .

Unfortunately there are still Civilians in that area ( contrary to the popular belief) , so the Bombing runs are limited . around 52000 people have evacuated the area.

We need Mangal and since he was elevated to command on Tirah, I am guessing IF we do go all the way.. Its going to be ours.

3. We did not arrange for proper air cover from the beginning.

Is this the correct way to fight this enemy? The issues of competence on our side must be resolved if we are to succeed.

Yes , this was Army's miscalculation .

2. We did not wait to make sure that the order side of the border will be closed or limited properly.

We could never ensure that.

3. We did not arrange for proper air cover from the beginning.

It was there , but was not used due to collateral Damage ,

4. We did not take the civilian factor into account properly.

operation was launched after 44000 residents evacuated that area.

Is this the correct way to fight this enemy? The issues of competence on our side must be resolved if we are to succeed.

Some time you do make miscalculations, but that does not mean the action should not have been taken , for example , if we do able to successfully eliminate Mangal bagh or LI ( which is all here ) , then we wold have achieved a greater goal .

you cannot win a war without sacrifices , or plan it to its perfection , Contingencies are always there, you just have to adjust to them .

Long story short, we completely underestimated the numbers of the enemy...the other issues have been present since long, no border reinforcement on the other side, civilian rehabilitation, all is now part and parcel of this counter insurgency.
