Operation Khyber IV.

Fun fact
Intercepts from Mangal Baghs own fm on the Afghan side during Khyber 3 amuzed us a lot.
He was angry with his Ts because in Khyber 3 we snatched a good 2-3 Map squares and a number of imp ridges from them overnight without the enemy knowing.
So when the Ts tried to come to launch fire raids from those positions, just imagime there horror when they found prepared Army/FC positiona on previously unoccupied ridges.
Inrecept msgs were being transmitted like crazy on the intercept channel.
"Kamandar ta owaya chay fauj pa ghqr wanday awal na nasta da"
ain't it possible to find out exact location the radio studio and then ask PAF to bomb

Bearing to location of handheld used by the Ts was also passed with the intercept msg and its freq as well.
But the mangal bagh FM svc was operating from well bk in the country.
Our understanding was that Mangal Bagh was operating from a posn near or inside Jalalabad.

didn't you guys ever tried sending some Pur Israr banday deep inside AFg to hunt him down?

Lol! It's not a movie mate.
A CO can't decide that he will go and take a coy out for a stroll to Jalalabad and bring back a specific person.
Army doesn't work that way.
Every operation has to be sanctioned, thought out, planned and rehearsed.
Specially when sovereignty issues come in the MO has to be very careful.
Plus an operation so deep inside hostile territory is not a possibility, given current scheme of things. Same reason why Indian Army faked an insertion rather than actually do a sirgical strike.
Plus mangal bagh doesn't matter anymore his area of influence and his followers did
Both of which are now depleted.
Also my job is not sending jawans, my task is indirect engagment of tgts.

I think it is only done on need basis, if taking out Mangal Bagh or Fazlu for that matter was significant it would already have been done. Right @Shiji

Exactly, you fight and destroy their fighting, IED makin and, comm capabilites and infrastructure.
I am not saying that if a chance of killing a comdr arises the army won't take it.
Ofcourse they will kill/ capture him (Capturing is more imp than killing). But it is more of a symbolic gesture rather than a long term gaining thing, because another comdr will take his place.
Specific to the taliban if a comdr losses his AOR, his fighters and most importantly his own home and village, then his reputation is tarnished and fighters start leaving his speific group.
Going in hot prusuit against one tgt would mean putting 100s of lives at risk against something that might achieve less strategic obj and cause more uproar in the intl community.

Well ofcourse if you get a chance to nab him nearby, and we almost had him at Kidney Ridge. However like you said he is mostly operating from far inside Afg in which case an SSG hot pursuit will not be feasible. However there are other ways to get to him but those have other drawbacks one of which is that he will definitely not be taken in alive. So like i said, they are taken out on need basis.

All of these terrorists are getting assistance from different political parties. Until and unless Pakistan Army takes a punitive action against those political leaders who keep these terrorists, we'll have to keep counting on Operation Khyber IV...V....VI...VII.
All political leaders are snakes. Army got to get rid Pakistan of these snakes.

The recently launched Operation Khyber-IV is continuing successfully as 110 square kilometres of the area in the Rajgal valley of Khyber Agency has been cleared of terrorists, the Pakistan Army has said.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), forces are searching the cleared areas of Wucha Wana, Bagh, Ziarat Sereh and Pak Darra.

“A number of terrorist hideouts dismantled, IEDs neutralised,” the military’s media wing said.

Khyber-IV is part of Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad, or Elimination of Discord, which was launched in February after a sharp uptick in terrorist attacks in the country. It is aimed at “indiscriminately eliminating the residual/latent threat of terrorism”, consolidating the gains made in other military operations.

Separately in Punjab, Pakistan Rangers Punjab along with the Counter Terrorism Department and Punjab Police conducted operations against terrorists and their facilitators in the province, the army claimed.

“During the last 48 hours, 42 suspects were apprehended from Islamabad, Rawalpindi & Lahore,” the ISPR said, adding that the detained are suspected of providing shelter to terrorists in Lahore and Faisalabad.
