Self reliance may help, but having better "toys" will be the defining factor. Even if Myanmar is "self reliant" are the weapons they produce are up to date with STANAG requirement?

this will give you more closer look
If indeed like you said Bangledesh is thinking full on arming these men with those, I would recommend against it, don't make the Philippine's mistake of upgrading single soldier's equipment instead of the bigger picture.

America at one point had terrible equipment, but paid the big price for the big ticket items, fighters, guns, tanks, DDGs, and such, similarly, you can find Chinese troops far less equipped than filipino dudes in arms, but our guns, missiles, tanks, bombers, and more will knock people out before it even gets to that stage.

Think about it, a couple billion dollars worth and China isn't doing it, we spent 39 billion on procurement last year 2013, yet almost none went into that.

That's how the soldiers are today. Firearm are secondary concern over survivability and having cutting edge equipment. I mean if a fully decked Bangladeshi battalion goes up against an Indian battalion armed with only their rifle and the clothes on their back. I don't need to tell you whose going to win?

India is, single soldier going one on one is over, it's system vs system, you need every piece of equipment from every sector to function effectively. Soldier's equipment is mostly the least effective of the bunch actually.

Standardization Agreement - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

For example:
STANAG 4569
There's 5 level of protection with 5 being the best.

For EXAMPLE the ANOA APC is a level 3:

PB100021.JPG

Level 3
Kinetic Energy
7.62 x 51 AP (WC core) at 30 meters with 930 m/s

Grenade and Mine Blast Threat
8 kg (explosive mass) Blast AT Mine:
3a – Mine Explosion pressure activated under any wheel or track location.
3b – Mine Explosion under center.

So how do u think this MM made 4x4 APC MAV-4 resistance level..?

Gauging non-NATO country weapons are a bit tricky cause they don't really adhere to NATO standard, but if I give it a score it will be around 1 or 2 probably (cause you don't really give me anything to work with here). I will give you another example:

This is prob the equivalent of MAV-4 in here.

P2 Commando: P2 KOMANDO - INDONESIAN MILITARY VEHICLES

Shooting tests at the back door
Fired a Russian AK-47, a Chinese Type 56 (AK clone) and an M16 from 75 and 50 metres. No real harm, but it seems like the cover of the firing port was ripped off by the bullets.
